User Reviews
No Job Security
This is a review for a company called Target Fund Managers Ltd. I would like to warn job seekers not to apply to this company. The reason being this company was not a suitable workplace to find meaningful employment. This was due to the Support Services Director who, to be truthfully blunt, was a workplace bully. She was able to get away with treating her subordinates in an atrocious manner because the boss(es) turned a blind eye allowing her to hire and fire staff at will. This made it a stressful work environment - especially for the remaining staff who must have wondered if they'd be the next for the chop. (The company had, and still has, a high staff turnover with a high volume of former staff who no doubt remain feeling peeved at their shabby treatment and unjustified firing by the SSD.)
Currently TFM Ltd are advertising one job under two job titles - Support Services Assistant and Trainee Administrator (for the same pay scale). Just a heads up - if you are thinking of applying, my advice is .... don't! This is a job that is frequently posted to various job sites and for good reason! Working with the Support Services Director as Support Services Assistant/Trainee Administrator, you'll find yourself being commanded to undertake unnecessary/senseless tasks & in some cases have to repeat same pointless task(s) over and over again until the SSD is satisfied with result. All the while the SSD will be condescending/patronising to her subordinates i.e. you, showing no shame to do so in front of others. A chipping away of your self-confidence and miserable hours spent trying to please this jumped up member of staff where nothing you do will be deemed satisfactory by your line manager. You'll end up going round in circles. Not worth sacrificing your sanity despite the competitive pay scale & other benefits the company may offer for what reads as a pleasant office job. Don't be fooled! The job will last 3 months - if that, and then just like scores of others before you, you will be gaily fired for no valid reason and with no warning by the Support Services Director. Save yourself a lot of grief and don't have anything to do with this unprincipled company.
No Applicants And More Expensive Than Rivals.
Tried S1 jobs out to post a vacancy for a senior carer and had a total of 0 applications.? Used indeed and had to close advert after one day. Ironically s1 jobs post there own jobs on indeed, speaks for itself!

S1 Jobs site is set up well however it is the content that lets it down as it would appear that a very small percentage of the openings actually exist. in my view the hidden agenda is to collect info ie contact details, current employment details etc. that can be linked with financial institutions. remember folks information is a resource that can be sold.

Innovative features but seems to have stalled in the last year or so. Job numbers have dropped significantly and the customer service is nothing short of appalling
It Isn't Really S1jobs Fault Themselves, It's More
It isn't really s1jobs fault themselves, it's more so that most agencies use the site and agencies are just awful. You can spend months and months checking s1jobs every day, applying and then being invited in to see an agency, then hear absolutely nothing back. I myself applied for jobs every day on that site, signed up with a dozen agencies, and that appointment was the last I knew about the application. The site itself is nice, easy to search and easy to apply for jobs, but they need to make the advertisers employers only as agencies just don't care.
So a hint to anyone job searching - apply for employers jobs directly as agencies are just making up their quota of getting people signed up and often don't even have a job available matching your CV.

There are NO good points for s1jobs.com, I have applied for 34 jobs, all which I've had relevant skills, if not actually exceeding the job requirements, and I've heard from no one.

Website is great, you can even drag/drop the different features of the layout to personalise your account page. Offers great things like desktop notifier, rss feed, video profiles of companies.
Have tried other sites but s1 seems to offer the most jobs in the best-looking layout. And they are a Scottish company advertising Scottish jobs!
Well recommend S1 Jobs.com.

Fantastic variety of jobs available
However I've more-or-less given up on this site, it's always the same agencies for the high majority of jobs and they are just not interested in contacting applicants with relevant skills! Very disappointing I feel and do not recommend S1 Jobs.com.
Response from s1jobs.com: We're sorry to read that one of our users has had a bad experience. If we receive a complaint about an advertiser we'll certainly look into it and if appropriate pass it to the company in question. However, the decision to contact a particular candidate is one for the recruiter and is not something we have any influence over. Our focus is on providing the quickest and easiest route to the biggest and best selection of vacancies in Scotland.
