I used the free listing for a while, then the sales people called and I though I'd give it a go the back links may help my website and I may get some work through the listing. Results were exactly, zero. The next year the sales guy asked how did I know that the visitors to my website weren't coming through them, if I advertise this year I'll be able to see the visitors through the new system they are setting up............never happened. I didn't renew this year, the city-visitor website says I have manual renewal, along comes the sales guy, you have a payment order on your account, you didn't cancel a month in advance, you still have to pay. Then he send me terms and conditions from the infoserve website, different from the terms and conditions on city-visitor. I have no payment order, I do not have a monthly rolling contract. So now I'm waiting on my lawyer because of this company that is out to prey on small and new businesses.

Make sure you save everything in writing. They will bully you into renewal.

Now that we have received several calls from them - We are pretty sure that the salesmen are trained to slam the phones on their customers. The system is a con and of course. Don't Don't use their service at all!!!

I've been on the City-Visitor site for 7 years now and haven't had any problems. The people I've dealt with have been polite and friendly and I get good value for my money and some decent enquiries which means it more than pays for itself. Worth a punt as part of your online marketing.

As you can see from all the previous reviews, aggressive sales people, scare tactics, bullies, poor business model and bad website.

Avoid City Visitor like you business depends on it - it does.

They are the biggest bunch of sharks.I'm glad I've found these reviews now I'm getting in touch with the credit card co.as they never explained anything about t and c's over the phone and have refused to allow me to cancel 1 hr after ordering.

To all city-visitor "Business customers"..Every company should clearly explain HIGHLIGHT or read out to you(if over the phone),their T & C, and explain cancellation terms CLEARLY.you usually have to agree either verbally by saying YES or in writing. in any case, T & C have to be explained to you. If you paid by credit card, call the Credit Card Company as the total payment was over £100.They will investigate and revoke the payment if found to be appropriate. speaking from experience. :-( Zel. Kick their ass! Their contract does not look valid to me.

My experience was making the wrong purchase of legal documents at the time of my company formation. I purchased them "As Business" so city-visitor cant hide behind that load of kak! The Companies Warehouse did not inform me of any cancellation rights and having contacted ny credit card provider, i was refunded the money i paid.

Watch out for 5% refunds!!

I once was a customer of http://www.city-visitor.com/ But had some concerns when I tried to cancel my subscription after two hours of them accepting payment.

I couldn't get hold of the sales man after that and was told I would only get 5% back as a refund by customer service...

The reason I wanted a refund was because our website was under construction and this was going to take some time. Links pointing to a dead web page would not really do my business any good..

There was also concerns that City visitors web listing doesn't actually show my company name in the listing. I felt that the money I was paying was actually going to promoting City visitors as my name never came up on goggle searches only after clicking on the city visitor link do you have the chance of being listed.....

After sales I must say in my opinion is terrible as I've never had a call back from the sales person to explain my concerns... Customer service level don't want you to talk to the sales person and seen heartless when asking for refunds.

Summery I paid £100+vat =£120 and will be refunded £6 where is the fairness in this....

nothing of this 5% is mentioned in their on-line Terms & Conditions that are on line. you would think that only business's would be using this service there for by right business term & conditions should be shown on there site.. where are the business terms If there are going to be used to with hold refunds???

Wow! I've had a great 4 years with City Visitor.

The sales team WILL call, and yes... often.

Other than that though, I found them to be honest, informative and very usefull.

The backlinks I've recieved from City Visitor have been sufficient to optimise my website, and I got them at a far cheaper price than I was being offered by SEO companies.

Maybe, because I make sales calls as part of my business, I didn't mind the sales calls.

But seriously, what did you expect? Nothing is free, what do you give away free as part of your business model?

We put our details all over the internet, we should expect calls guys.

It's a shame that I could not score them lower than 1 star!! They really are a bunch of con-artists. I advertised with them for 2 years but then decided to leave them. At this point the sales staff became very rude and a lot of high pressure phone calls followed. I resisted all of them and after I told them no for the 5th time I told them not to call me back. Within an hour of this I had a bad review on my Google listing making some very inappropriate comments. On confronting the sales person about this he laughed and hung up on me. Outrageous company - they need to be shutdown before they can rob anymore innocent businesses.
