I'm Not Impressed

I joined the site a couple of weeks ago, paying about £33 for a month. I will not be renewing. I am unable to send any personal contact information to a member who has not upgraded i.e. paid the sub. Also, though I know most dating sites do this, they display 'members' who have not logged in for more than six months i.e. are almost certainly no longer members at all.

However, in all fairness they are careful to remind you on the site to cancel your membership renewal payment if you plan to leave the site. Many dating sites don't bother to remind you to do this.

Fakes And Not Just The " Members"

This is more like unintelligent dating from Eastern Europe.Be amazed as no-one contacts you the moment you subscribe! Be unsurprised by support criticising you from not wanting to be matched to Russians. This was a good site 15 years ago but now it's just fakes matching to fakes run by fakes

Help Practically Non-existent

Having rejoined this site a couple of weeks after my subscription expired, I found that I could not use my original profile (even though I was able to access this!). The site insisted that I 'return to go' and complete a new profile, including photos, etc. I contacted Ivory Towers to point out how inconvenient this was, especially as I had received a message from a lady through the original profile. All I got from the 'Help Line' was a standard response, telling me that as a full member again, I now had access to all the site's services. In other words, my problem was not addressed, and my subsequent emails to the Help Department have been assiduously ignored. I shall certainly not be renewing my membership next time! Very disappointing!

I Loved Being On Ivory Towers But The Men Who Atte

I loved being on Ivory Towers But the men who attended university as I had were a bit elitist and mostly a bit boring. I also found they had enormous amounts of baggage though it wasn't so apparant as say on match.com- no, they were smart and hid the stuff well until you meet them. I have names on request and it might be a good idea if IT had a system like Amazon where one could grade or mark suitable versus unsuitable dates 'People who dated Peter also dated Mark' They were mostly looking for tiny, slim, perky snub nosed girls who went by the names of Felicity or Fiona and were years and years younger- think at east 15 years-

I had a look at the female competition on the Ivory Towers website and found what you said was true. I have never seen so many glamorous photos of sixty year olds, looking so much younger. Wish I knew the names of their plastic surgeons! The photos of the men are much less attractive physically, but perhaps that is because they are more honest about posting a contemporaneous image! I agree with what you say, it's just another a meat market in the guise of intellectuals seeking enlightenment from each other... Some women have put honest photos on the site, but I bet they never get contacted by the males on the site who want clever cuties, not real women.

I Had No Communications At All Through This Site,

I had no communications at all through this site, despite having put a lot of time and effort into my profile. I was attracted to the site because I'd used it in the past and found it to be OK. I also liked the idea of meeting intelligent graduates, rather than just men after one thing.

But because I had no contacts, I stopped using the site and forgot my "screen name". That was when the problems began. I tried to stop my subscription, but found I was unable to do this without logging in. There is an online contact form..But it doesn't work. I tried at least 10 times. There is no phone number for customer service, if there is such a thing. When in desperation I phoned their admin number, I was told "customer service" would call me back. They didn't. When I tried again, I was told, very rudely, that there IS no "customer service". I then discovered that Ivory Towers had been taken over by an organisation called Widernet Communications; which also owns Christian networking and dating sites.

Meanwhile, they had taken another £30 from me. I will do whatever it takes to recover this. But it has been a very stressful and unpleasant experience. Great ad for Christianity!

Beware!
