Great Image Transfer Stopper
Play Memories Home seems to have been designed to prevent or stop import of images from cameras to computers and phones, making file transfer impossible. Originally it transferred images rather well, but then things became worse and worse until a consensus was reached that there is no point taking the program further.
Pros - when the software works image transfer is doing relatively well, as you can create folders to send the pictures. If image transfer is successful you can store the images and then watch or view them. You can also delete images to create more space for new ones.
Cons - the software is simply too primitive in comparison with other similar software out there.Nowadays it just seems to stop in the middle of transfer, making full image transfer nearly completely impossible.
Attempts to replace it resulted in nothing practical for newcomers to the product. Computer will sometimes not recognize card readers which have been used for file transfer using Play Memories. All of its versions are degenerating to the point it is becoming unmanagable. The old photos can still be viewed but it is a matter of time before something happens to them too that will be beyond anybody´s control.
What´s the point developing an app supposed to enable transferring pictures between a camera and a computer if the actual transfer stops and the camera can not even read from the card reader anymore either? Why not find some way to make a new program that has absolutely nothing to do with Play Memories Home, but which can actually transfer files from a camera to a computer instead? That way users can use the software it was advertised for.
No one denies the fact that you could once use the Play Memories software to transfer images, but for some users it looks as if that is ancient history now.Users are expecting the software to be fully accessible any time now.
If people want to design image transfer stoppers they should call their software that. If they want to design image transfer software they should call their software that. They should not give the software the name ´Play Memories Home´and then expect it to stop the transfer in the middle of selecting it.No one is accusing anyone of false advertising but customers are skeptical of the software and its current replacement. They want something practical that can transfer images from their cameras, to a PC. Its that simple. Upgrade the software, or design an entirely new one directly from scratch with no association whatsoever to the now obsolete one.
It's The Worst!
First I thought it was me, because I'm only an average techie. But on further review, I have decided that this is a worthless piece of software. Transferring photos from your camera to your iPhone works well. However as an important part of your PC photo editing arsenal, look elsewhere.
Ease Of Upload
Terrible, Completely Non-functional.
After uploading photos- with no indication from either the program or during Import- over past few months- am now realizing NONE of the several hundred photos have actually made it into their designated folder.
Avoid This One
Clunky, odd, unnecessarily complex and poorly thought out vampire software which sucks onto many other pictures than the ones you are downloading. Likely written way before IOS ease. On my PC, the process of getting a picture from camera and then back out to, say, Photoshop, is a PAIN.
Sony Playmemories Home
Transfer from newer Sony camera/video to programme is fine but you try loading from your hard drive. The programme won't even recognise a DVD (or it's files) recorded on an older SONY DVD recorder, nor will it recognise other equipment. It must be one of the most difficult, Sony insular, frustrating programmes I've come across. My advice is to dump Sony and it's restrictive manoeuvres and look elsewhere.
Q&A
I cannot export the photos in Play Memories Home to memory stick. Can anyone help?
