Sham!

Despatch Bay have taken my £83.50 credits saying that the account has not been active for 6 months and so they reserve the right to take the remaining credits.

Nowhere in the Despatch bay terms and conditions is this stated.

This is a sham company.

Unexpected And Unauthorised Surcharges Avoid Avoid Avoid

AVOID. Yes cheap parcel deliveries, but you then get hit with massive surcharges. I even got charged for putting to much tape on one parcel (as it supposed to cause parcels to fall off conveyor belt. Another time i was charged nearly £50 surcharge for underdeclaring a parcel by 1cm. As you are charged from a prepay account you cannot contest it.

Despatch Bay Surcharge Rip Off

I have used Despatch Bay to send parcels for a few years, but no more.

They have recently stated ripping me off with surcharges for parcels that they claim are oversize or incorrectly packaged which is complete and utter nonsense!

I will never use them again and I mean ever!

Miscellaneous Charges

We are a growing business and we picked this company based on prices, they seemed competitive and offered us a solution for a one stop posting system. We had no issues in the beginning and then started receiving regular charges for reprinting our labels, handling charges as our boxes were branded, packages being with held with no explanation. They dont tell you what they are doing they just take the money from your credit. We are currently moving away from them and would not recommend them to other business'. It seems they make up for their low prices by applying charges wherever they can.

Rubbish Service, Charging Surcharges

Rubbish Service, Using Excuses! To Do Surcharges, You Have Used A Little Too Much Tape So We Have To Charge £7.95 Surcharge, Item Is Then Not Correctly Packaged, It Was 2 Layers Of Tape On Top Of Each Other, Going Up To Down And Left To Right Of The Parcel! £50.00 Surcharge Because The Item Was 1.3 Meters Long Not 1.2 Meters?

WHAT THE HELL!? £50.00

Dont Use Them

Wasnt really comfortable paying up front (plus vat) but as they go up to 30kg and a friend had used them in the past, thought I'd give it a whirl. So the £6.42 quoted for a parcel is actually plus vat for starters (not at all transparent pricing), I've sent 5 items in 2 months, and on 3 of those things they have slapped on a £7.95 surcharge... for no reason. I send a lot of post and could have sent the same parcel via Hermes packaged in the same way without this additional cost which effectively has doubled the price of sending each parcel. I always take images of the wrapped parcel before sending (in case they get lost) but I cant upload the images on their support site to demonstrate the charges are invalid. I cant find parcel packaging guidelines on their site either. And the two complaints I've logged with their customer services have just been closed without a bye or leave... They are appauling... use anyone but these! PS - Only given one star on this review as you cant give none!!!

Don't Use Them, My Truthful Experience As A Small Business

I am a small business sending between 20 and 40 parcels a week around the world.

I was using them for the past 4 months as I was fed up of myhermes damaging my parcels. All was pretty much ok for the first 3 months then I saw 11 x £7.95 manual handling charges applied to my account!!!

Then 3 days later another 7 added. 18 x £7.95 in one week. I wondered what was going on and called them. What you read below is 100% truth.

It was because I used fragile tape to tape up my boxes. Yes, that is the reason. You cannot mark a box as fragile or use fragile marked tape to secure your packages. This is because the handlers remove fragile marked boxes from the line and put them aside.

So we are being charged for handlers handling fragile items as marked on the boxes. “Why only the past week and not 4 months” I asked?

They changed their terms and conditions (Now contractual with Parcelforce) and didn’t inform anyone. You cannot mark a box as fragile using a tape, stamp or writing it on. It will be removed and you’re charged £7.95.

Now if you need to make a claim and an item is damaged in the post you won’t get compensation as you didn’t mark the package as fragile.

So damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

Changing terms and conditions and not informing the user and then charging them a handling charge just for marking a box as fragile. I lost nearly £150 because of this and when I spoke to them they didn’t give a flying £!#*

Now going to UPStoday and checked with them that marking a box as fragile is acceptable, which it is.

Really, spread the word. Don’t use despatchbay!!!!!

Unprofessional, Can't Be Trusted. Don't Bother!

Wrongly took over £80 from a topped up account, then take 15 days to pay it back. No-one will explain why. Dishonest and untrustworthy. Sadly when they have control of your money what can you do? Well, not use again, that's what we are going to do. Do keep in mind if you do want to contact this company by telephone, they use a premium rate number costing over £1 per minute!
