Gadgetgadgetgadget - Do Not Buy From This Company!
I purchased a lens from GadgetGadgetGadget (an online company) - it is based in Hong Kong so I made sure to read their terms and conditions fully. It said you had 14 days from delivery date to decided whether to keep the item. It was dispatched from a London address so I reasoned that if I wanted to return it; then I would only have to pay to return it there (only £5-6).
Important to note that the T&C's did not inform you where it would have to be returned to; so this is in fact underhand and deceitful.
The lens arrived: it and the box were in pristine condition so no worries there but it was just too big for my camera and my hands; if I had seen the lens in a shop I would not have bought it for just those reasons.
So I emailed the company as per their T&C's and they informed me that it would have to be posted to Hong Kong! I was livid - I would not have made the purchase in the first place if I had been made aware of that undisclosed fact.
So we had no choice but to stump up £17.48 to post it back to HK by Royal Mail. The company informed me that if it arrived outside of the 14 day limit: they would deduct £40 from my refund - again not happy.
The parcel arrived within the time limit but then I got an email from them informing me that the packaging had arrived damaged therefore they could not sell it to anyone else and therefore I would get NO REFUND AT ALL FROM THEM. They told me they would send the lens that I didn't want back to me for a £30 postage cost!!!
The RM postage covered insurance but I don't hold out much hope for RM admitting that the parcel was damaged in transit.
I sent the company a very angry email telling them that I didn't believe for a minute that the parcel arrived damaged and that they were simply robbing me in broad daylight.
They emailed back to say that magnanimously they would post the lens I didn't want back to me for free.....
The only good thing about this tale of deceit and dishonesty: is I paid by credit card for the purchase. So we have made a claim to them - they aren't at the moment going to refund the costly postage but we didn't pay for the postage by credit card and we should have and it would have been covered.
You have been warned!
