Refusing Entry During Opening Hours

Well done, alperton sainsburys for providing an 'excellent' customer service today turning me down 3 min before closing time (and my watch/phone shows the right time).. What's the use of having opening hours published (and misguided) if you put a security guard God knows how many minutes before official closing time just to turn down upset and disappointed customers who running to reach the shop just before closing? I understand staff want to go home especially on Sunday but, seriously, does it make a significant difference to let people in a couple minutes before closing time? This last minute customers don't want to arrange their weekly shopping at that time.. no wonder sainsburys loosing customers, I am one of them. I am better off without this lousy supermarket

Sainsbury's Customer Service

I have been a loyal customer of Sainsbury's for over 20 years and regularly spend over £200 weekly. I went into a branch which was not my normal branch and used the self scanner check out. There were some problems with this till and the 'colleague' huffed and puffed and snapped at me several times. Eventually I had had enough of her attitude and told her so at which point she completely lost the plot and ranted so that all customers could hear her. We can all have bad days and while I can never excuse this treatment worse was to come with Sainsbury's Customer Service. They attempted to DEFEND this woman - do they really think I have nothing better to do with my time than to complain to them?

Ompany That Holds Grudges

i used to use sainsburys a lot as we have to children with special needs which makes it difficult to do an in store shop but we stopped using sainsburys for a while its when i started back the problems started i ordered food and when it came they had given me two items that went out of date that day i refused those items and rung them to tell of the bad service they offered me 10 pound off my next shop so i ordered the next week and i ordered 4 days before i needed the food on the day i had a 9-10 in the morning slot 10.20 no shopping when i phoned to complain they had refused my card the same card i used 7 days before now let me clarify sainsburys refused my card not the bank i checked with the back and no payment had been requested from them so they had decided to decline it now try explaining that two children with special needs that a huge shop took a grudge against there dad and that why there is no food coming it was disgusting and the only reason im telling this is because if someone reads this and it stops them from making the same mistake i made its worth it

Finnaly I am called to sainsburys queries and spent half hour on phone, to get connected with refund team. PLUS !!! last winter we got charged double (2 x 108£),-my debit card and wifes debit card for one home delivery order (two different cards registered for online shopping in our account,- my card and my wifes card . We spent a lot time and nerves, to get back money overpaid, sainsburys in 33 HOLBORN, LONDON asked to print our both bank statements and take to superstore, for to proove we overpaid. Finally they did`nt compensate our waste time, just said don`t know how this happened and said sorry.

Sometimes sorry is too short ....

Very Poor

I recieved some items that I didn't order, and was charged for them. I told them they could collect them and asked for a refund. They refused and said I must have ordered them.

Not true, although I see your point. A software error could cause it, this happened to me years ago in connection with a bank transfer I carried out. It was actioned twice, Egg maintained I had done it twice but it would have required entering all the details a second time. And the transactions were carried out milliseconds apart. As they could not demonstrate sufficient safeguards the ombudsman found in my favour and I was compensated. I would be unlikely to even look at the meat product they supplied as I am vegetarain. Anyway it's going in a food bank and I wil never use Sainsburys again, their loss.

Original82

If you are charged for items then you either did order them or they were substitutions, which would have been shown on the paperwork. It is impossible to be charged for something is you didn't order it and it wasn't a substitution.

Return Of Clothing Items.

I tried to return an item of clothing to Sainsbury's yesterday that I bought 10 days ago before my holiday and it didn't fit. I had mislaid the receipt so asked for a credit note instead as always shop there anyway. I was told that as the item was now in the sale I could only have 75% of the price back!!!!!I explained that I was a loyal customer [more than 10 years] and asked to speak to manager. I was told that I should go and ring customer care as they could resolve it. Customer care said they couldn't do anything as it was company policy! They said if I could get a bank statement showing I shopped on that day then I could have a refund.

I explained that I don't have on-line banking and by the time the bank send a statement the returns period would be up. She said that was all they could do. We are talking about £4 here! Its not the money its the fact that they keep data on all of us and could access the information which would show what I bought and when and that they would rather lose a loyal customer than have the common sense for someone in authority to say 'give this lady a full refund'! I wont be shopping there again, worse customer service ever!

Appalling Customer Service

Having been an on line shopper with Sainsburys for a long time I have just had an experience that has put me off them for life.

I had a delivery expected for between 8am and 9am. When nothing had arrived by noon I phoned to see what had happened.I was told that the driver had called at 8.45am.

Not true we were actually standing outside our house until 11am.No one turned up at all.I was then told that no delivery could be arranged for the same day and that it was up to me to 'phone a different number to re-book the delivery for another day! They were not even prepared to do that for me.

They had taken the money from my bank account so that my wife and myself who are both in our seventies could not even go out and get a bit of shopping.SHAME ON YOU SAINSBURY'S!

Original82

Why did you stand outside your house for two hours after your delivery slot? You should have called the freephone number supplied to you when you order to ask questions and to re-book, as they are the only people who can do that for you.

They Lie!!!!

I decided to try a change and go with Sainburys online as I usually use Tescos! I had a delivery booked between 11am and 12! The shopping did not arrive so I phoned at 12,40pm to be told the driver tried to deliver but no one was in!!! This is complete and utter lies there is always someone in my house and we live in a very small quiet village where you can clearly see all traffic that come into our area and no sainburys van even attempted to come!!! So they said they couldn't deliver another one that day and would contact me to see if they could deliver in the morning!!! I told them I wanted a refund as they had taken the payment for it! I will never use them again!! I have used tescos for 3 years and never has a single problem and they also text you to let you know they are running late!! I never got any call nothing from sainburys!! Would not recommened to anyone!!! Terrible company

Original82

Just out of interest, if you never had a single problem with Tesco then why did you not stay loyal to them?

snowbottle

Yes I quite agree.Exactly the same thing happened to me I shall never use them again

Don't Be Ripped Off!

We used the Sainsburys online service for our Christmas order for the first time this year. Delivery was okay but for one vital item - the turkey. On line we ordered one for £35, the one they produced came to £63! I rang their office number listed on the bill and first impressions seemed to suggest it was a take it or leave it scenario. When I pressed our case they then offered to refund the difference in price. The moral of the tale is obviously to stand your ground.

1
Original82

I imagine that you originally chose to accept the substitution at the doorstep. I you were in store and there were no other turkeys available then I imagine you would choose what was there if you wanted one. You'd then have to pay whatever the price of the turkey was and not expect a refund for the difference.

Sell By Dates

have used all online home delivery supermarkets and all have pros and cons but sainsbury have to be CONSTANTLY told NOT to send food which is either on or close to ie next day use by dates etc. There is

always something that has to be returned (if I can be bothered) or thrown away. They also have a habit of sending all "fresh meat, veggies " with the same date as though you can use them all at once or have to try to cram everything in freezer when did not want frozen food. However, today is the worst EVER by anyone, an item of food has been delivered which is 10 DAYS past its date. UNBELIEVABLE but true, even got the decorator to check it because could not believe it. Where has this food been kept?
