On their website, they claim to have a large facility and employ over 50 full time artists. To be fair, at no point do they explicitly claim that these artists are in the Western world. However, the pictures and business location all imply it - so it was a disappointment to receive the artwork from China. More bizarre, the company is Xiamen Dongsheng Trading Co. Ltd who, when you dig a little deeper, turn out to be a shoe manufacturer and exporter.... what sort of shoes? Canvas shoes. Cannot make this stuff up. It makes me wonder if the entire company is in fact a front for Chinese traders, but perhaps the owners of the website are just farming it out to China. But the line about having their own facility and employing their own full time artists, does certainly look to be false.

I think what annoys me the most, however, is that right now, as I type this, the coronavirus pandemic is really picking up speed. And the painting was posted TNT from China, and took just 4 days to arrive. Now, WHO might say the virus only lives hours on surfaces, but there is good reason to believe (i.e. actual studies) that it might survive up to a week or longer. Other coronaviruses do. Need I say more? Just washed my hands.

Anyway, the painting itself is fine, although as oil paintings go it is totally flat, with no texture from the paint itself. And it took much longer to arrive, of course now I know why....

Thing is, if I just wanted to find some random Chinese person to do a painting for me, I am entirely capable of sourcing it myself. I expected a Western company, with Western quality controls. Just just someone acting as a middleman and skimming profit. So, not happy.

We found 1st Art Gallery online, and placed our order a little nervously. We ordered a painting from Rembrandt.

When the package arrived I was very pleasantly surprised that it was not delayed. When we opened up the package we found a beautiful oil replica of the painting we loved so much. The quality of the reproduction is outstanding taking into account the price. These artists do an outstanding work, the painting is painted with great skill, the customer service is superb.

Could not be happier with my new paintings and the service. Placed an order for two 19th century cityscape paintings rich in details and architectural elements. The paintings which we received within three weeks are as advertised and on par with 1st-art's reputation as the leading oil painting reproduction company in the world today - I could hang them in a museum and nobody would know the difference. Quite larger (4x5 feet each) they were a bargain ($400 each) and I will now insure them for over $10,000 - what I estimate their sale price would be at the local gallery. The service was prompt and delivery smooth with the package delivered to our door by UPS.

www.1st-art-gallery.com was a great experience. I had researched everything but was not entirely sure of ordering something so expensive online (after paying up front). When I finally received the painting it was even better than I expected.

It was so cheap to frame this as well. I sent photos of the type of frames I thought would be good and they found some great profiles to suit. and it was very nicely finished and ready to hang when it showed up. It would have cost at least

$1000 Cdn to frame this and it cost 1/4 through them.

Overall, very painless other than the time delays. I'm very happy.
