David Phillips Abysmal Company Stay Clear

Frankly David Phillips does not even deserve a one star however, cannot submit a review here without giving this abysmal company a one star!

Staff are evidently poorly trained and raising concerns with the CEO is a waste of time, he clearly does not care for positive customer experience. Used them to install furniture for staging and they left the property badly damaged with walls and flooring damaged. The quality of furniture provided by this company is of a very poor standard!

Please please don't waste your money and time with this company.

Abysmal Quality And Shocking Mark Ups

Very dubious.

Rented a one bedroom character property for almost a decade and had to replace all the furniture within two years.

Our letting agent shared the quote and selected furniture package with us ahead of the tenancy which we thought looked great. We felt very lucky that the landlord was investing so much and we were excited.

We were very wrong.

After just one year of tenancy, the 'faux leather' bound bed had collapsed - it was a cheap frame and even cheaper slats with a supposed orthopaedic mattress effectively holding the shape together. We found the same bed we'd had in B-&-M for less than £100. On the same trip, we spotted our bedside and floor lamps as well as a console table.

We found our vacuum cleaner, rug and coffee table on sale in The Range.

The chrome legs on the dining table also peeled and rusted and the dining chairs had discoloured and the legs had warped.

In addition to these items of furniture, the move in pack included a selection of peripheral products which were not fit for purpose, including the aforementioned vacuum cleaner which had to be replaced after the first use.

We were considerate tenants and we looked after the property and everything in it but these items were not fit for daily use and certainly not for a long term let.

Our landlord was being charged several multiples of what these items were worth and, if if had been me, I would have sourced items myself. I suspect it would have been cheaper and less hassle for the tenant in the long run.

If you are a landlord, be very wary of using this company.

Poor Quality Sofas

I purchased 2 sofas in 2017 advertised as leather a 2-seater at £389.00 + a 4-seater at £445.00 sold. After just 4 years the 'leather' has all peeled off. They actually appear to be ‘bonded leather’, made from off cuts, stitched together and covered with a synthetic film to look like genuine leather. Reading the reviews these types of sofas rarely last longer than 1-3 years. It’s apparently the largest source of law suits for false advertising in the furniture industry. I am appalled they sold these for rental - they are totally unfit. David Phillips offered no compensation, simply telling me they are no longer in warranty. Avoid this company.

Landlords Beware !

I needed to buy some beds and mattresses in a hurry for a property I rent out. I'd used the company three years previously with success but before ordering I telephoned to check that they would be able to deliver to my deadline (2 days). They assured me that they had the beds in stock and could deliver for the Friday (ordering on Wednesday). I placed the order online, paid, received a confirmation email and then a phone call confirming delivery arrangements. At that point we took the old beds and mattresses to the local recycling centre. Job done I thought.. 3pm on the Thursday I received a phone call rescheduling the delivery to the following Wednesday because "their supplier had let them down". No phone call this time and just a brief apology.

David Phillips's whole ethos is about serving the rental market... I would never go near them again and would urge anyone else not to believe the spiel they write on their website and tell you down the phone. Complete amateurs with no interest in their customers.

Don't Believe The 'in Stock' Ticks

Ordered a bedframe along with other furniture all showing as next day delivery and confirmed as ordered from in stock items. On day of delivery 2 items were revealed to be out of stock, an armchair arrived after several weeks and still not received bedframe after 71 days. Furniture is fine, if it arrives. Delivery guys seem very frustrated with central coordination

Shoddy Sofas And Not Interested In Correcting Matters

2 sofas costing around £900 had leather type finish pealing off after 3 years - sofas now cost £1100 and company's only offer was a 15% discount

These were advertised as "robust and hard wearing"

Do not use this firm!

Over The Moon Hassle Free

Have been a small landlord of four properties, i had two refurbished and had them advertised unfurnished for a while the feedback was great but would I furnish.

after much consideration i decide to furnish.

I was introduced to David Philips and went ahead with a package of furniture suitable for the properties . With in Days the van arrived and the crew delivered into the properties, installed and took away all the packaging that goes along with it the service was great

After two days i had asking price offers for both flat and in fact one flat went above the asking price

Wonderful Service & Excellent Product

I was put at ease from the minute i was introduced by my real estate agent. I received a call, quote and a site survey and confirmed my order within 48 hours of initial contact. Delivery was simple and the installers were an asset to the estabilshment. My husband was there to see all of the product and could not be happier!

I currently live in Kuwait so a turnkey survey was vital

Fast, Reliable And Great Value For Money!

**HIGHLY RECOMMENDED** - I recently ordered a new black out blinds for one of my bedrooms, after the ones I had from John Lewis failed. I must say the service was fantastic!

I must admit, I was a little bit hesitant after reading some of the reviews on here but these negatives were soon put to rest...

From the moment I called the number on the website to get a rough price, to the gentlemen who came to check my measurements (and gave me a few options too) to installing last Saturday was unbelievably quick. The whole process took less than 2 weeks.

The quality of the blinds are so far look far better than the one I have, I'm now thinking of replacing all the blinds for the other windows in the New Year.

They were cheaper than most other companies that I managed to speak to (some companies didn't even return my calls...oh well there loss!)

Everyone I dealt with from the person on the phone the installer were extremely helpful and highly professional and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this company.
