Warning - They Are Back!
I work for a jewellery manufacturer and we've recently had somebody try to open a new account... after credit checks it looks suspiciously like Nuttalls aka globejewellery.
Be warned!

AVOID ALL DEALINGS WITH THIS COMPANY
this company now trading as globe jewellery and continuing the same style of sales as nuttalls
We had the same problem with them my ring had a dent in it so we sent it back and they sent the same ring back !! We called them they were very rude but said I could have a different ring they sent the new one and the stone was shatterd they said that I had done it and there was not any thing they would do. So I had no engagement ring and had to buy another one I was so upset.

Dispicable Soulless Traders!
my boyfriend who ordered my engagement ring was told time and time again that the product was currently unavailable, this was seven months ago, we went elsewhere in the end. The staff are rude, unhelpfull and basically do not care whether or not anyone ever recieves their money back. However they are quick enough to obtain funds, knowing full well thy will never recieve their goods. Also knowing that they now use alias's is slighlty worrying. They are no good tea leaves and so are the staff that they employ. Don't touch them!!

I Had To Take Legal Proceedings Against Them
I ordered jewellry online and paid by card. My account was immediately debited. Nothing was delivered so I phoned and emailed many many times. Months passed. After seven months I entered a legal claim through the small claims court. At the last moment of the time they were given by the court, they paid me my refund. Don't touch them.

Nuttalls Sorry Folks But You Are All Partly To Blame.....
It's a horrible feeling being ripped off. There are two reasons its happened.
Firstly - Nuttals are obviously crooks and lack any integrity or business ethic. It's very unfair and you've worked hard for that cash. I sincerely hope you get it back.
Secondly - You've been gullible. Sorry to be blunt. You believed in impossible discounts, you felt very savvy avoiding the greedy high street with its huge profits. But you cannot buy jewellery at 70%less than the high street. The high street is highly competetive if you use your eyes and your intelligence you will make a deal AND be able look the seller in the eye.
Buying 'unbranded' jewellery online is a huge risk, you are totally in the hands of the seller. A new diamond ring cannot be bought online with the same confidence as an iPod. Nuttals made impossible claims and you fell for them. Yes I'm in jewellery retail and yes I saw this coming - it makes me mad that these people get away with it. But please, all of you, learn something from this experience and stop Nuttals opening up again).

Nuttalls Is Bankrupt
Purchased a pearl and diamond necklace in March, found some bad workmanship, returned it to Chester in April, telephoned every day for nearly three months, on the odd occasion when Nuttalls deamed to answer the phone was told lie after lie after lie about my necklace. Nuttalls have now gone bust, I do not have my necklace and they have the piece of jewellery and my £1,200. The same people, are still running several other jewellery companies, don't give them your hard earned money.
According to companies house they are still a active company. At the moment it appears that they have only removed the website from which they were trading.
They also trade under 1st stop gold shop, Waltons the jewellers and Globejewellery.co.uk

Robbers And Liars
I ordered an emerald earring and necklace set for my daughter's 18th birthday in MAY 2010 - over a year ago!!! 35 emails and 13 months of empty promises later I am not surprised to hear they have taken the coward's way out. John Nuttall should be thoroughly ashamed of himself. After his apologetic email in January (see below) I even asked if the company was in trouble and was assured it was not. Of course, I feel thoroughly stupid now. Thanks Amanda and all those I have spoken to and corresponded with, consider yourselves all liars and equally complicit in this. It is utterly disgusting.
Message from the Managing Director: (Published: Friday 07 January, 2011)
Unfortunately during the run up to Christmas we understand that too many of you experienced problems with supplying times and that various aspects of our customer service had deteriorated to an unacceptable level.
Obviously the bad weather around the country before Christmas did prove very problematic in respect to delivery times, and some of supplies actually took weeks to get to us, many not arriving till after the holiday period. During this period quite a few of our supplying parcels went 'missing' in transit, which also did not help. We understand that many of these late orders were purchased specifically as presents, and all we can do is offer our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. In the very unfortunate event that orders have still not arrived, you can be assured we are doing our very best to deliver as soon as possible.
With regards to customer service issues: I found it quite appalling the way our customer service manager dealt with issues, and over the last few months it became apparent that his commitment to offering the best possible service had become nearly non-existent. This was made obvious to me due to the ever increasing number of complaints regarding his 'attitude' and lack of effort in solving issues.
Due to the high demand upon our resources we also found it hard to maintain our commitment in responding to emails within 3 hours. Likewise our telephone system simply could not cope with the amount of incoming calls. Again we sincerely apologies if this caused any inconvenience.
I fully understand that we have to work hard to earn your business, and even harder to expect returning custom, so I have brought in a whole new team of highly skilled and motivated customer service professionals, led by two new managers. Their wealth of knowledge in providing extreme high levels of customer service is sure to be both beneficial to you and the customer in the future.
You can be assured that we really do want to provide the very best shopping experience for you, and we will always strive our utmost to achieve this.
Hopefully we have learned from our mistakes and this will shine through during this year.
If you would just like to give feedback so we can improve the quality of service to you, please do not hesitate to contact [email protected] quoting your order number.
As a goodwill gesture if you wish to purchase anything off us in the future, by adding the following code: nw2011 during checkout, you will receive an extra 5% off your purchase. This includes any items that may already be in a sale.
Shopping with us in Year 2011.
If you indeed stay subscribed to our monthly newsletters you will receive all the special offers that are available only to newsletter readers throughout the New Year of 2011.
Every month we already offer the Birthstone for that month for sale at various discounted rates, along with many other randomly selected items, but newsletter subscribers always receive extra discount when entering the applicable discount code during checkout, making purchases available sometimes at an incredible and genuine 75% off RRP's!
Very best regards

Nuttalls Of Chester News!
I would like to inform you that Nuttalls of Chester is in the process of going into voluntary liquidation, the cowards. I am owed nearly £700 and the likelihood of me getting a penny back seems extremely unlikely.
I am disgusted and appalled and most of all VERY angry that they can just get away with the amount of distress they have brought upon hundreds of honest customers. It's daylight robbery.
Can I suggest you all try to get a refund via your bank. We are in the same situation (My engagement ring!!!) Will be long drawn out process but much quicker than waiting on the recievers.
Ask you bank for a fraudulent use claim form.
1 month ago I wrote a review regarding my experience with Nuttalls. By the way they were conducting their business, and giving me excuse after excuse that they couldn't refund me for a product they didn't deliver, I suggested they may be taking as many orders as possible before going into receivership (I've experienced it before). Nutttalls complained and I had my post withdrawn, How right I was!!! The poster is right. The directors will not walk away from this losing money. Only us. They are th--ves of the worst kind.
I sympathise, I found out today that they have gone into voluntary liquidation, I had a letter from Baines and Ernst and like you say the chances of any of us getting our money back is slim. They are dishonest and complete crooks in my opinion.

Do Not Use This Company!!!!!
I purchased a pendant in mid April 2011 for my mums birthday in May, I sent an email a few weeks after purchasing asking for an up-date of the whereabouts of the item, no reply. Sent another email a week later and they actually responded (WOW) saying it will be delivered by end of week. The item did arrive yes HOWEVER, it arrived in the worst packaging I had ever seen surrounded by shredded magazine paper and the box had no logo on it was just a black box it looked so cheap... then I saw the pendant.... such terrible quality it seemed it wasnt even worthy of a gold hallmark on it as I couldnt find one nor could my partner... there was an obvious flaw surrounding a diamond, I could go on and on it didnt look like the picture on the website atall. I emailed them stating my dissappointment and to my surprise....no reply. I returned it recorded delivery and someone from Nuttalls signed for it so they do exist! It is now June 15th 2011 and I have had no refund, no response to my many emails sent, no answer to my over 50 phone calls on several occasions, voice mails left to no avail.... Diabolical service/quality TO EVERYONE THINKING OF USING THEM - SIMPLY DO NOT!!!! Im now going to have to contact my bank etc to find out how I can claim back my money. I might even contact Watchdog to advise others. I am heavily pregnant too with a 20 month old daughter with special needs so its not like we have the money to waste on nothing... so upset and angry for choosing them, dont make the same mistake as me.
I can concur with everything you have written, I purchased a pearl necklace in March for my wifes birthday, Nuttalls reckoned it was worth £2,400 and I paid them £1,200. Unfortunately there was several things wrong with the pearls and the stringing so returned the necklace to Nuttalls, they agreed with our complaint and undertook to have it fixed, that was in April. My wife has telephoned them several times each day for the past 9 weeks, she has left dozens of messages and on odd occasions she has actually spoken to someone. They have made promise after promise and broken every one of them. The net result is that Nuttalls have our £1,200 and we have nothing, now they have ceased to trade and the chance of any recompense would appear to be nil.
I am so sorry, it is unlikely that you will get a refund now they have gone into liquidation, I informed Watchdog and Trading Standards of them ages ago, but did not hear anything back. I paid via paypal but as it longer than 45 days ago I cant claim money back from them. It is an outrage.
Janna
I so know how everyone feels. I still have one item owed to me by Nuttalls since the beginning of January 2011. I made similar experiences as most of you describe but thankfully mine is not a high value item.
Yesterday, I received a letter in the post advising that Nuttalls have gone into voluntary liquidation and that my outstanding item ranks as an unsecured debt ... So bad news for me and everyone with outstanding claims against Nuttalls.
