Pressured Sales.

I attended Tesco inverness for an eye test. I was told I needed two pairs of glasses. one for reading and one for driving. The driving glasses HAD to have a tint, even though my car and most vehicles now have tinted windscreens. When I did not make a purchase, I was told that if I had an accident in the meantime, my insurance would not cover me. I went for a second opinion to another optician. I was told after my test that I did not need glasses for driving as the perimeter for driving requirements were well exceeded in my eye test. I was also told that I only needed preserves for reading the small print on chemist bottles etc., and that the glasses I had at the moment, only needed slightly up-graded at no cost to me at all. They would also be ready in half an hour. My husband has been waiting for the glasses he ordered from Tesco since the 5th. Feb.and he was told they would be ready in 3 to 4 days.He still hasn't got them.

Never A Customer

I've just received three letters in the post informing me of Tesco's intention to sell up to Vision Express and to thank me for my custom, to assure me that my personal data will be passed on to Vision express to continue provide my optical care. I have never been and never would be a customer of Tesco opticians. Where the hell did they get my details from and why do they think I was a customer?

Not A Comfortable Experience

I have never had glasses in my 60 years of being on this planet so as I had been experiencing bad headaches for quite a while and as my last test was some 6 years ago (35 years before that!) I went to my local Tesco in Portsmouth and arranged an appointment for 9.30. I arrived to only be told by the one staff member that they were running 30-60 minutes late albeit there were no customers there at that time. My personal time is very limited so trying to make the best of a bad situation I said I would do my shopping in store and if they were ready for me then I would have the tests done. So started shopping and about 20 minutes later it came over the tannoy would I go to the optitians. One person started the first part but was rather put out when I asked what it was for as I was quite naive in optical tests and was interested, but I didn't get an explanation. Then I moved on to the second part with another staff member and I asked the same question what it was for, again I didn't get an explanation, other than "you will need glasses to help with your near reading and one of the staff will sort you out with those when we are finished". My eyesight is still rather good and I don't do any near reading such as books etc so my thoughts were already going down the line of PROFIT MAKING. I thought back to when I last had a test and the results were very similar and the advice I was given then was you can have some glasses now and if they were used regularly then your eyesight would deteriorate quickly and if he had eyesight like mine at my age that is what he would do, good advice I thought from a caring person with people skills as well as being a qualified individual. I then had a third test they couldn't answer any of the questions that I had. Suffice to say I left with a prescription and will not be returning there at any time in the future. Please have comfort in that part of my job is being a peoples person in PR and I would not have treated any of my clients the way that I got treated. I then continued with my shopping and got called again on the tannoy but one of the staff members spotted me and asked me to "just sign here as we forgot to get you to do it". I asked what they wanted me to sign and was told "oh it's just a formality" as I could see it was for NHS funding as there is glaucoma in the family I signed it and asked for a copy and was told they don't get asked for that, but I was asking and made them do a photocopy for my records.

I certainly won't be going through that experience there again. I would avoid them without a doubt

Useles Time-wasters

My daughter had an eye test at the Tesco Colney Hatch branch. She informed the optician she was a university student with exams due in a weeks's time, & urgently required replacement glasses, as her old 4yr old glasses were broken, & actually, she had been using contact lenses for the past year. Optician contacted her former opticians (SpecSavers) for a copy of her previous prescriptions to check for any changes in her prescription, and then insisted that my daughter provide her old broken 4yr old glasses in 4 days time, before she is allowed to choose new glasses. The optician did not even give her the prescription. I called to enquire why the optician made this decision, especially as the glasses were broken, because ithe delay would mean that the glasses would not be ready in time for my daughter's university exams. The optician's Assistant replied that the optician 'was not going to change her mind on her decision, her decision was final. Absolutely no regard for the implications of that decision. I took my daughter back to SpecSavers, & she's expecting her glasses in 4days time. I wish I had read the high level of negative online feedback/review of Tesco Opticians from other customers, as I won't have bothered with Tesco. It was even impossible to book the eye test appointment online, so wasted 54mins booking this via phone, all for nothing. Thank God that the rest of Tesco (groceries & Petrol) provide better & excellent service to its customers.

Islweorth Tesco Glasses Gave Me Headaches And Dizziness

First it took 3 months to get 2 pairs of glasses done. had trouble with first frame and glare/reflection despite having anti glare coating.

Then I started having headaches and being a bit dizzy and out of focus in general.

Reading was harder too.

Prescription was too strong. So I just went back to my old glasses and forgot about it. Over a year later I took an eye test with proper opticians and it

confirms that tesco prescription was wrong.

Do they care?

No, treated as a liar and not offered any help at all.

Never again

Friendly, Efficient, Helpful

This was a repeat visit to the opticians at Tesco Inshes, Inverness as I had a positive experience on my last test 2 years ago. I was greeted promptly by the optical assistant and waited only a few minutes till the preliminary tests were done, then a few minutes further wait for the optician. She was friendly, thorough and explained things clearly. Afterwards the assistant took me through my lens and frame options. A few days later I went to their Eastfield way branch to choose frames. Again no waiting, helpful friendly assistant. I got a text within a week to let me know my glasses were ready. A different, helpful, assistant dealt me then. It seems from others reviews on this site that it depends which branch you attend as to what service you get, but I am very happy with both branches in Inverness.

Terrible Customer Service Mansfield Store

15 minutes late on first appointment.

I was 5 mins late for second appointment and was told I was too late and tough luck!

Awful customer service, the staff were terrible!

They allow 5 mins for customers to be late yet would not budge, 10 mins later they insisted I was 10 mins late!!

Poor Customer Service And Low Quality Frame

I purchased a pair of glasses last September at the Surrey Quays branch. After only 6 months of use, one of the arms of the frame fell off. I took the frames back to the store and complained about the bad quality. The staff at the store refused to have the frames repaired and instead, accused me of breaking the arm off. They subsequently took another pair of glasses and broke the arm of that pair in front of me. I am disgusted at the behaviour of the customer service at this store.

Only after we complained multiple times, they finally agreed to send off the glasses to the manufacturer. However, we were not guaranteed to having the frames replaced nor repaired.

Terrible Customer Service!!!

I booked an eye test appointment at the tesco optician Crewe and arrived barely 5 minutes after my scheduled appointment and had to look around the opticians to speak to somebody to inform them I had an appoitment booked and was told I had missed it, which was ridiculous as only reason I was few minutes past was due to lack of spaces in the tesco car park and would not be able to be seen and was then told that they could arange an appointment in 2 weeks time which was not helpful, customer service apauling would advise nobody to waste there time with this store
