Thank you for all your help 10 days ago when I purchased 4 hens. Two ginger nut Rangers and two black Sussex.

I have only had them for 10 days but in that time 3 of them have laid 21 eggs of various shapes and sizes. All are very entertaining and having contained them in an 8 foot run for 9 days they are now enjoying their freedom roaming the land.

The information you gave was invaluable and my hens are now flourishing.

Me and my dad went to the poulty centre the staff were lovely and helpful they told us a lot about keeping chickens but i wanted a pet chicken so i told the man and he got the most docile bird he could find my chicken now sits on my arm loved being stroked and lets me hand feed her thank you poultry centre for my best friend (red) and i strongly recommend ranger hens or amber hens i have 2rangers2ambers but my fav is called red

Picked up 6 hens today, they look and feel very healthy, service from the centre was excellent, shall be returning soon.

We have kept bantam hens for the last 20 years, buying from various places. 3 years ago we discovered this poultry centre, over that time we have purchased, at different times, 18 bantam hens. Without fail all of these birds have been in beautiful condition, free of pests and extremely healthy. They are still immaculate birds and continue to be the best 18 birds in our roost. In comparison to the problems we have experienced using other outlets to increase our stock (private breeders or internet purchases) this place is a dream. Loads of choice, brilliant staff and all the time you need to browse and decide. Highly recommended.

Have bought a number of birds from Bell Plantation over the years. Really impressed by the affable nature of the staff and their level of knowledge! Stood in the rain today discussing the finer points of chicken selection with the 2 staff on duty who could not has been more helpful.

I bought four hens from the Poultry Centre: two Ambers, one Colombian Black Tail and one Golden Speckled. The staff at the Bell Poultry Centre listened to our needs and provided us with excellent hens. When we got the Golden Speckled home she was dominmating the others a little too much, so we returned the next day and swapped to a Ranger. The Ambers are so friendly and docile and easy to pick up. The Colombian and Ranger are a little more wary, however, still very easy to manage. They started laying within a few days and even though the eggs are half size, the girls are still very young. They are very active, eat lots and leave a lot poo but that seems the be the sign of happy chickens. They are all friends and a very gentle pecking order is developing. Can't recommend the Poulty Centre enough for genuine service and care.

Made the trip down from the Midlands last Monday. Very obvious when we arrived that the hens were well looked after. Bought 8 very healthy birds that are now loving their new home.

I bought 3 hens about 6 weeks ago, a speckled Suffolk, hybrid blue and a partridge leghorn. All in great condition. Started laying within days of getting them home. Fab eggs in fact they can't keep up with family demand so might have to buy more. The leghorn always wants to run around the garden and paces in the run to come out. The other two aren't fussed about getting out but enjoy a run around. Couldn't let them in the garden in the summer as they would eat everything and dig holes !! So I'm going to get a bigger run. It's my first time at keeping chickens and I love them, they are easy to look after but they are very messy this weather doesn't help as everything is so wet but they Take about 10 minutes to clean out every couple of days but could be left longer if wasn't so wet! Easy to feed - mine love pasta and have had all the Christmas leftovers! I had a bit of a problem with runny poo and weight loss but rang up and they were so helpful - turns out I was over feeding them and they need their chicken feed more than the scraps i was giving them, but so helpful at the Poultry Centre and said not to hesitate and call them back if I needed to. The hens have great characters, they follow me around or sit on the window sill when I'm in the kitchen. They are great with children too. I can't praise the staff enough as I asked loads of questions as I was unsure of what I was doing and they even let me hold one to make sure I was ok with it. Would definitely recommend them and will go there again.

Extremely helpful lads who asked which ones we prefered, and then managed to catch the right ones, a feat in itself. They then clipped their wings and checked them all over, asked if we were happy with them, before they boxed them up ready for us to take away.

There are so many to choose from, i just want to go back now, to buy some more, but need to build a bigger house first to put them in.

Would recommend anyone wanting a chicken to pay them a visit, as each pen has details of the chickens, their egg laying capabilities and if they are a good first timer etc etc, they also sell runs, houses, pens and everthing you could ever want for your chickens.

Great place to visit

It makes life so much easier to have the products I need for looking after my chickens delivered to my door. My local shop supplier often runs out of what I want and it gets frustrating to have a wasted journey. So it was great to be able to order heavy items and hard to get items and have them dropped off at home. The delivery driver even followed my instructions and put them in the shed because I wasn't there!
