£96 "admin fee" for passing our details to the local authority for a simple penalty notice charge of £65 is a joke, dealing with the company is painful AVOID AVOID AVOID will never use Green Motion again!!!

Dont Go Near Them. Stay Away

Arrived at their office in Novotel after waiting 30 minutes in the pouring rain for the shuttle bus completed the necessary documents and went to collect our car in the pouring rain and was told by the guy handing over the car NO NEED TO CHECK IT as it had all been checked and had no damage.

On return they found a surface scratch 1 inch long on the rear wing which they said was new and then went through the most horrendous experience in which my wife and myself were treated like liars and criminals and also made to wait in their offices for an hour during which we were completely ignored. Final charge £388-80 plus £66 admin fee.

My advice never hire a car from Green Motion.

Stay Away

Beware if you are using this company, hired a car was completly honest with them, the car got very slightly damaged, i had the damage assessed 304 pounds they charged me over 900 pounds, you have no come back, when you want to speak to someone you get a machine.

stay away from this mob, they will get exposed for what they are faceless pirates.

Green Motion Car Hire Stansted Airport- Beware !

On collection the cars exterior was very dirty, the rear window washer did not work. I totaled around 170 miles on hire. Returning the car was told the mileage was 1500 less than on collection and that under the dirt was a small scratch on the rear bumper. I informed them I had not used the rear hatch door and that the vehicle had been parked on a private drive and had only been used to and from airport .I stated that as the scratch was underneath the dirt, was obviously there on collection Staff were not interested - told me my I would have my £400 excess taken.I could go directly to their office and get it sorted, I said I would be contesting their findings.

I wrote to green Motion Head Office, no support at all, basically told me I was a liar , no scratch marked on collection,and I would have to pay. I emailed them and again expressed my concern that I felt this was a set up and as it was dusk on collection would not be at all visible.

I had private excess cover, so this did not concern me. What did concern me was that the car was supplied in a bad state, the staff had rushed to get it ready ,I had to wait, and they had entered the mileage incorrectly, I was minus 1500 miles upon return,clearly they had not checked the vehicle properly. Then the attitude of the Stansted branch and Green Motion Head Office was appalling , they dismissed all , told me I as I had refused to get it sorted on site at the time returning the car, I would be charged £400 for a 1inch; scratch. This statement more or less said we are punishing you financially as you dared to object to what we are saying !!! Great Customer Service !! How can £400 be justified for such a small scratch? It only needs a few cars to be told a scratch has appeared during rental and several extra thousands of pounds can be made each day!

My insurance has replaced my £400, but as I have been using car hire companies all over Europe and many times at Stansted Green Motion has proved to be the worst by far ever, in over 35 years!

I was made to feel I was in the wrong by complaining and felt bullied by their staff and their emails . Reading Feedback on this company at Stansted , there are several similar incidents reported.

I suggest people ignore their offer of cheap car rental , as in the long term it seems for many using them, it is proving very expensive indeed! Pay a little more and be safe with a well established company .

GREENMOTION CAR HIRE STANSTEAD (Hilton Hotel):

Holiday started off with so many problems regarding the car insurance cover in the office (had taken out the cover to take excess chares to "0", yet they still blocked my card for 400 GBP IN CASE of damage or fines).

As I was about to leave, I ended up getting cuaght up with upset customers who had returned their cars only to get charged ridiculous charges for damage (350 GBP for scraatch to bumper on car... even though a NEW bumper costs LESS than 200 GBP!!!...

Poor man had taken the car at night and didn't see the scratch previously.

Someone else was also being accused of smoking in the car (no evidence... only a smell apparently. He got charged a whopping 96GBP for cleaning. Cleaning??? It only needed at the most a spray of Febreeze!!!)

Anyway, manager already in bad mood. He decided that I couldn't have the car (because we were all complaining between each other about the company, and exchanging phone numbers), even though the keys were already in and my case in the boot of the car.

He LOCKED THE CAR WITH MY CASE INSIDE and walked off. He said he "wanted out". I was already upset from the treatment I got about the insurance in the office, and was running after him demanding my keys so I could get going on my journey to my mother (reason for my visit was she had been taken seriously ill!!!)

He just kept walking away saying HE didn't want to hire me the car. He also said I wouldn't get my money back, and had no interest at all when I was saying that I was stranded there with no available money because of them blocking the funds on my card!)

I ran after him, and after a tearful and upsetting argument I smacked his arm and demanded the keys. He eventually gave the keys, but I was in a terrible state crying. Really upsetting situation. I shouldn't really have driven like that.

On returning the car I as followed by THE POLICE into the car park. The wimp of a manager had reported me! Even the police said the manager was a time-waster and the only reason they were there was because it is compulsory after someone reports something. They couldn't understand why he reported it. I hadn't hurt him. He was way taller and bigger than me and was wearing a thick winter jacket!

After reading through the small print and seeing that there are so many charges... (for example 84 GBP administration fees in case of parking or speeding fines, on top of the fine itself) I was too afraid to use the car once I arrived at my destination!!!! What a waste!!! I also couldn't risk the stress of damage and having to pay myself then having to claim back off the insurance company. It's not normal at all!!!!

Apparently, after reading reviews and speaking to a gentleman in the car park that used to work for them, it became clear that they usually find ways of charging as much as possible for damages, valeting etc on return of the vehicles. I wish I had known sooner. Hopefull RYANAIR will stop using them, and use reputable companies instead. It must be terrible for foreign visitors who's english is not too good :(

HERE ARE A FEW OF THEIR CHARGES FOUND IN THEIR SMALL PRINT:

LONDON CONGESTION CHARGE: Entering the London Congestion Charge zone will require a daily fee of £11,50 paid to Transport for London, not to us. If you fail to pay on the day then YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY A FINE OF £149.00 PER DAY.

DARTFORD CROSSING: If you use the Dartford Bridge or Tunnel crossing you will need to make a one-off payment of £2,50 in advance or by midnight the day after crossing. Failure to pay will result in a charge of 84.00 per crossing.

SPEEDING FINES, PARKING FINES, BUS LANES: If you incur ANY speeding fines or other road traffic offences that are notified to us then AN ADMINISTRATION FEE OF £84,00 WILL BE CHARGED, plus any costs we incur.

hired a car from Green Motion at Stansted via Booking Agency CAR DEL MAR ...arrived late as the booking agency gave me a wrong phone no to call...didnt worry too much as had PREPAID IN FULL...to find no car available...they had made no attempt to contact us ...was made to wait in the public area of the Hilton hotel with my wife , who has advanced Alzheimer's for over an hour ..when the Manager finally phoned the booking agency they had closed for the day...Green Motion refused to help find us a replacement car...refused us the use of their utility room for my wife to have her 5 o'clock injection...were rude beyond belief.

We had to try 5 other car hire firms until we were assisted by ENTERPRISE..albeit at twice the price.

Green Motion refuse to help us get a refund from Car Del Mar who demand lists of documents to avoid refunding our advance payment.

Two companies in collusion...if you have a barge pole don't touch either of them with it.

Avoid This Company

Our family received an erroneous parking fine while hiring a car from this company - the fine was cancelled but this company still took £96 off the credit card to ' process the fine' - this process consisted of one email ! The staff have been completely unhelpful and refused to pay back this money which should never have been charged in the first place.

Scratch

Never ever hire with green motion, paid 995£ and repainting was £695, we are still waiting for the remaining balance.

They won't show any scratches while you're taking the car but when you return it will show from one of the doors, very fine and thin scratch. If you already booked with them take pictures of all possible angles before you drive off and also don't pay them for minor scratches. If you pay you won't get your balance you might get your repair cost from excess insurance.

The stansted airport is the worst one.
