Avoid At All Costs

I’m trying to manage a non fault claim. The other person has admitted fault via her insurance company, I’ve registered the details with GA, but there is no person to talk to about what happens next. How do I get my car fixed? Email replies are just automated/ robot. Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced.

I'm in the exact same position had my car fixed and I've paid the excess which they have taken not heard from them in 12 months. Sent proof of payment and still nothing they are an absolute disgrace and their solicitors carpenters are just as bad I've never seen reviews as bad wish I'd checked before insuring. This sham company wants shutting down big company or not

If You Are Thinking About Going To General Acciden

If you are thinking about going to general accidents for your insurance, I would strongly recommend against it for the following reasons: 1. miscommunication between them and the black box installer. 2. they go against their own written word, meaning either misinformed staff, or miscommunication between staff members.

My first attempt to get my black box installed was failed because of the installation company, Hyde Park corner. The installer both arrived at the location, and left, BEFORE THE ARRANGED APPOINTMENT!

But the second attempt was failed 100% because of miscommunication between general accident and Hyde Park corner.

General accidents told me their only available date for installation was a work day for me, and the person I was speaking to on the phone didn't even bother to ask what my available time at my workplace were, and therefore was unable to communicate to the installer what my work hours were.

The installation happened to be a morning appointment, meaning the installer arrived 15 mins before I would have arrived at my workplace, and he then left there and then.

On the day of the third appointment, at my home address, the installer, after looking at my car with ignition on, informed me that he was not authorised to install the black box because my vehicle had air bags fitted, which is standard for my model of vehicle!!! This should have been preempted and therefore pre allowed.

After this third failed attempt, general accidents then told me that instead of me contacting them to arrange the fourth install, that vodafone would instead contact me. They then went against this written word and in turn cancelled my insurance, causing me to now pay 2.5k a year for my new insurance because of the cancellation!

So I would definitely not recomend general accidents, if I had to jump though this many hoops to just get my car up to spec with their policy, who knows how many hoops to jump through if I was actually making a claim!

Shocking Customer Service

In 40 years of holding car insurance policies I have NEVER experienced such RUBBISH customer service. I moved house and so all my Direct Debits were cancelled. I tried 3 times to reinstate my car insurance payments but for some reason GA was unable to collect the money.

Could I talk to someone about this unfortunate glitch? NO

Did I receive emails informing me of imminent cancellation - YES

Was there any way for me to rectify this without actually talking to a human - NO

I consider myself fortunate in as far as I had not had some horrific accident because I fear that I would also of ‘collided with a brick wall’ to add insult to injury.

Do not use this company. They may be SLIGHTLY less expensive but you as the customer will pay.!!

Stay Away From General Assistant

Stay away from them.

They will charge you money and after a while, they will say you are not qualify for their coverage.

I had already declare all my modifications before I paid the money. They had accepted and charged me deposit. Then after a while, they suddenly ask me everything again and tell me that they will not accept my car. And they also not gonna give me my money back, which I had paid already.

Abysmal Service. Avoid At All Cost !!!

Two weeks ago I contacted General Accident registering a glass claim for a shattered car window. I was told to speak to Auto windscreens which I did. They informed me that they were unable to get the window. I contacted General Accident and informed them of this. I was told to call national Windscreens and Autoglass. I called national Windscreens and was informed that they could not get the window either. I called auto Glass but they said that they do not deal with General Accident. I called General Accident back again and was told to resource the window myself. Despite a huge amount of time searching I have been unable to resource a window. I contacted General Accident and explained this and that they should be sorting this out and not myself as thats why I pay insurance. I was informed that an engineer at General Accident had been spoken to and agreed and that this would now be escalated. A few days later I received a text from Auto Windscreens stating that they were unable to help as they could not resource a window. I already knew this !!!. I again called General accident and went through all this again (With a very helpful young lady) who said that this had now been escalated to the top level, whatever that might mean. I again called General Accident and was informed that there is no record of the claim as its a glass claim and this was with the escalation department. i asked for their number but have been told that its not possible to speak to anyone. I have now had an insecure car on the driveway with a broken window for two weeks with water pouring in when it rains. (Unfoirtunalety due to being a cabriolet its difficult to make a seal and the car is used daily)

Coincidentally I've had an auto renewal come through with a contact number thereon. when I call the number it asks for my policy number. When I put this in it says that the policy number isnt recognised.

I registered an online complaint but still haven't heard anything back.

General Accident really are a joke and avoid at all cost !!!!

I wish I could give 0 stars. Terrible experience with these.

We had to make a claim when someone caused us to hit them when braking unnecessarily. There were two young males in the car. The damage was minimal and I have evidence of this. However the car was further damaged which resulted in their car being written off. I have photographic evidence from the science and of them driving off in the car that shows non of the damage that caused the car to be written off. However no one handling the claim noticed this and that the damage wasn't consistent with the damage our car would have been able to do. The other party claimed it was a family in the car and they all had injuries. I have pictures the show you can only see two passengers in the car and never saw anyone else in the car. I also disputed the driver who was claiming was the correct person as the age of the driver didn't match my description. Despite sending numerous letters to their solicitors and asking if we would testify in court (which we would liked to have done) they also paid out for personal injury of the driver.

I had to do all the chasing of the claim (which took over 2 years) and they went months and months between doing any work on the case. My childrens car seats full amount wasn't covered as we had hit them. They paid £150 out for 2 seats and the seats were ERF at £380 each to replace.

Honestly pay the slight extra premium and avoid these at all costs.

Steer Well Clear

God awful customer service, threats of cancellation, false speeding alerts through a completely unreliable telematics device, the list really does go on. Do yourself a favour and steer well clear of these absolute buffoons, they are only out to line their pockets and cause undue stress on young drivers such as myself. And the worst of it is, their employees believe there is nothing wrong with the way they treat customers and how they deal with issues.

Stay Clear! Worst Car Insurance Company Ever

Car insurance cancelled out of the blue, by a letter that arrived the day AFTER policy had been cancelled! According to the said letter, prior warnings by had been sent by post....These were never received! No warnings from the portal - which has shown consistently good driving. No warnings via text from vodaphone for apparent "speeding" of 1 mph over the 30mph speed limit. When challenged, GA said this is unusual'. Erm, no it's not according to so many reviews on here, Trust Pilot and Facebook!

As non of this "data" is available for me to view! My portal only shows good driving - when GA were asked for it - they gave me 3 dates that were over 8 weeks, not the "same 30 day period as stated in their one and only letter"

An absolute shambles of a company, who seem to lure you in with "cheap" insurance, only to sting you with a £125 cancellation fee. Nice little earner for them.

Totally unprofessional, unscrupulous and dishonest.

So many bad reviews....I'm appalled!!! but at least I know, and hopefully people who read these reviews know, what this company is about!

Appalling - Nonexisteant Service And Impossible To Contact

After 2 years where I haven't had to make a claim, trying to claim for a glass crack has left me hopping mad. The booking link to Autoglass doesn't work; you can't contact GA by telephone and even finding an e-mail form link was difficult No contact, no support, impossible to speak to an advisor to resolve.

Do General Accident car insurance recognise your full N.C.D. entitlement on renewal? I have brought 10 years to them, can I expect a letter stating 11 years N.C.D. next year assuming no claims or do they only recognise up to a set amount of years?
