Most Reliable 2 Stroke I've Had And I've Had Alot
Great speed and nice kick from power and for wheelies, soft suspension , nice and high up never let me down only bad points is fuel / 2 stroke premix as used daily but least would never worry about 2 stroke pump problems , kick start slips now and then no biggy and just wish it had indicators over than that the perfect enduro.

Kawasaki Kdx200
I had my 1998 KDX200 for about 2 years, sold it about 2 years ago.
It was a good bike, always started easily, being a two stroke, it smoked a bit when starting, but had no effect on the performance.
Many guys I know rode these bikes alot harder than I did they all seemed to enjoy the rides. It was reasonably economical but not nearly as economical as my Honda XR250.It also went alot quicker than the Honda, and handled alot better.
I did have some problems with the carburettor, it was a while before I realised that the previous owner must have fiddled with carb, I found the float level was wrong, and petrol kept leaking from it.
Once I sorted this, it gave no problems, I stress this was not the bikes fault, just some backyard mechanic that did not know what he was doing.
The bike was very good in 2nd & 3rd gear, felt very torquey, great for going up hills, passed many other bikes up hills.
Suspension was a bit loose/soft feeling, but I read that alot of other owners had put upmarket shocks and springs in the forks to upgrade the bikes, apparently with great effect.
It was a very reliable bike,In two years I only had to replace the gear change lever, the fuel cap that cracked.
Being a water cooled two stroke It never had any overheating problems.
If I was too have kept the bike the only thing I would have upgraded would have been the suspension.

Good Low End Power. The Kawasaki Kdx200 Handles Wo
Good low end power. The Kawasaki KDX200 handles wonderfully in the woods. I've been riding for 6 years, and I've been on this bike for almost 3. I can outrun 250s, 400s, and 450s in the woods on this bike. It's easy enough for a child to ride, but has the potental to become a top notch hare-scrambler with a little modification. Such as a pipe, silencer, and reeds. The 6 speed transmissions are bulletproof and are very smooth. As is the clutch. I love the bike. Stock tripple clamps are a little flimsy. I actually broke the clamp on the upper tree in the woods on a rocky trail. I replaced it with aa clamp from a 1988 kdx_200, which has a beefier tripple tree and stem. The motor has a very broad powerband, but is lacking a little power on the top end. It's happier in the mid-range area, so don't be expecting to win any motocross with it.
