Wrong Part And Bad Customer Service

Called to purchase a part was told was in and would be delivered Monday so I booked garage

It then arrived Tuesday and it was the wrong part

I rang and spoke to a rude person who really did not care told me he would call back but instead another guy called me back no apology or anything and he only wanted to get part back and give a refund and no other options very uninterested

I now have to wait in or drive up using my petrol to get money back

Do not go here if you do not want to waste your time and be rude in return

Ordered Alternator From These People On Breakerlin

Ordered alternator from these people on Breakerlink, they sent me part that was defective, when they told me part had been tested.

Part was fitted by mechanic at cost, then not even a mile down the road, the car broke down,so called RAC who did various tests and informed me it was the alternator.

So decided to get checked by 2 local mechanics who both told me the alternator was no good and had seized.

I contacted Silverlake and told them, they then said that the RAC and the 2 mechanic's were wrong, completely laughable!!!

.Then ask Silverlake to collect part and get refunded, and guy said it would be collected next day but could not give me time slot,so had to take day off work to wait.

Next day I call Silverlake at around 0930,but no answe,so I decided to go to shop after waiting until 1100,then at 1150 I decided to call them to get update, only to be told DPD would be collecting part between 1200 and 1300,so I then race home and arrive home at 12.05 only to find DPD card hanging from front door with nothing filled in.

So contact Silverlake who after cutting the call off tell me because I had missed my time slot,I would have to send part back to them at almost the cost of the part!!!

So very angry,it has cost me a small fortune for there mistake!!!

So now contacted trading standards who are going to look in to this.

Customer Dis-service

They made contact with me after putting out a request for a part if Breakersyard.com. They said it would be with me in e days maximum. 4 Days later I phoned to see where my part was, and got told it was broken on removal.

I asked why I wasnt contacted as soon as it happened, to which they said they had no clue. I then spoke to the guy who sold me the part, who said he was sourcing a replacement, and would call that same day to confirm, or refund.

4 days later, still waiting I phoned, and get told that there was no replacement on the screen, and the agent wasnt there to speak too. Was also advised still no part, after 10 days. Asked to speak to a manager, and got asked why?

Then did a merry little back and forth about why she thought I wanted to speak to a manager, untill i had to end the call with no resolve and no recompense.

AVOID!!

Buying A Battery? 3rd Time Lucky?

i just come back home after being away for xmas with my family, i have 2 cars, one for my family, and the other is my transport to get to work,

30th-12-2019 i was leaving work when my car wouldnt start, i had to jump start it, and drove stright to sliverlake to buy a second hand battery, i would normally buy a new battery but after spending sooo much during xmas on my family, i didn't have the budget to get a new battery, so went to silver-lake,

i bought a battery and fitted it in the car park, again my car wouldn't start, so i went into the service department and was told that the battery might need a charge, so they jump started my car, and so i left and drove around for 45 mins, i went to see and old friend who works for halfords auto center and again the car wouldn't start, my friend checked my car and couldn't see any faults with it other than the battery was faulty,

as silver-lake gave my a warranty on the battery, i had my friend jump started my car and i then drove home, the following day i took the battery out and took it back to silver-lake,

the guy said that he didn't have a replacement battery but he would have a look on the shelf in the rear office.

shortly after waiting a few mins, the guy returned with a battery and said that this will get me out of trouble, i thanked the guy and returned home,

i fitted the replacement battery on the 1st jan 2020,

and again the car wouldnt start, i was told that the battery was ok, but clearly somthing went wrong, i had a friend came out to check my car again and he also said that the battery was faulty,

so 3rd time lucky?? today 3rd-1-2020, i went back to silver-lake with the 2nd faulty battery, and the same guy who seen me on the 1st jan 2020, said that there was a problem with my car and that i had no problems with the battery they provided me,

i then look out my battery tester, (please note i am a motorhome mechanic) i hate working on cars hence why i get my friends to fix my cars,

after showing the guy at silver-lake that the battery tester said the battery was faulty, he then served 2 more people before coming back to me, he then went into the back of the office and bought back 2 other batterys, i tested each battery, the 1st one said faulty, the 2nd said, good/recharge, he then said that they only had these left and i could either take it or leave it,

i took the 2nd battery and took my chances, as i took the battery the guy then said "i cant understand why you want a 2nd hand battery when you could of bought a new one"

if that was the case i would of gone to halfords for a new battery, but as most of us in the uk knows that DURING Jan money is very tight,

and just for the info, i only need a 2nd hand battery until the end of jan when i will be buying a new one, as of the review, as of now, i will NOT BE GOING BACK TO SILVER-LAKE,

Tyre Bay Tyrants

I had an issue with them before, when I ordered two 170/65 R13s. Got a 165/70 and a 175/65 instead. Not even the make was the same on the receipt. Since I am the trusting type I got in the car and went home, to find out the mistake a week later. A week is too long I thought, they could just have said that I changed them and I just want to cause trouble. Well, last week's experience upheld my suspicion. Read along.

This time, I needed a tyre changed due to puncture and another one (a summer tyre) which I had on until I found another all-season tyre.

I have all-season ones on as a habit, so that's what I asked for. I was told there are four on stock (make a mental note of this, its a crucial point). Paid for two and waited.

They jacked the wrong side up twice... Reported twice... Never mind that...

What took them nearly an hour, still don't know, but it turned worse another hour later, when I checked what they fitted. (stay with me, because it turns even worse later...).

Instead of two all-season ones, I had one all-season and another summer tyre, different to my original one. None of them were the ones the receipt mentioned.

Got back and asked them to rectify it, since (apparently) they still had another 3 on stock. Thirty minutes later (yepp, they put me right at the back of the queue, deapite the error they made) a tyre fitter came to me, holding a tyre in his hands, asking 'Is this the type of tyre you want? Mud and Snow?'...

Well how many names shall I call an all-season tyre for a tyre shop? Four season? All-season? Mud and Snow? The one in-between?...

Shall I clarify that according to the RMA that these are synonyms for same category?

What made the whole thing comical was, he held the wrong size tyre in his hands.

Another half an hour later, they fitted something... They didn't even let me know what it will be. I was just given 'a tyre'...

Once again the wrong one (a used budget summer tyre for £30).

Once again, back to the till, explained what happened. The answer came 'Well, summer and all-season tyres are basically the same...'

This was the point where I snapped. Not only they wasted 2 hours on fitting various tyres onto my car which had nothing to do with what I ordered, but also fitting the type (two other summer tyres in total) I already had anyway and made me pay for it. On top of all that they tried to mask their failure by arrogance, talking nonsense, thinking they are talking to someone who has no idea of technology of any kind.

Not one, but TWO of them tried to convince me that summer and all-season tyres are the same.

Here you can see the absolute lack of interest in serving a customer.

NOTE TO 'SLG' GUYS (or Silver-Lake Garage or S+LG? whichever you prefer):

1. Your customers have rights. Even if you fit part-worn tyres (or used tyres, PW+T perhaps) on their cars. They pay you money they earned, making you responsible for what you do. I know you don't care about that, thats exactly what I experienced.

2. Don't waste your custumers time! 3. Man up! If you made a mistake own up to it! Communicate and don't try to defeat your customers!

4. The above 3 points earned you yet another bad review as I see it.

5. Learn from it!

Failure of communication and trying to defeat a customer in a pointless argument?

Where were all those tyres they offered me?

Why do they have M+S tyres listed separately if they don't recognise the difference between them?

Or shall I write all-season or four-season so they have room for argument?

Thank Heavens I asked them to put the original tyres in the boot in the first place.

Here is what you MUST do if you deal with them. Check everything as soon as they say its 'done'.

Dodgy Garage, Took My Money And Failed To Deliver Parts

I ordered a Subaru Legacy bonnet from Silverlake Garge in Shedfield, Southampton, Hampshire. They promised delivery to my home in North Yorkshire some days later. I stayed in all that day with three witnesses.my son. No delivery was attempted that day or the next. When I contacted Silverlake they claimed that delivery had been attempted. As this claim was patently untrue, and as they had already failed once, I asked for the deal to be called off and my money refunded. They persuaded me to give them another chance and we agreed on another delivery date two weeks later. Of course, there was no delivery so I asked again for the deal to be called off and they told me I would be charged a 20% handling fee because I had gone beyond the 7-day cut-off period!
