Do Not Use This Company They Refused To Refund Airline Rax
After a cancelled flight Ctrip refused to refund the tax paid, which is a EU law.
Bad Service. Unreliable
I made a hotel reservation. Paid and confirmed. Only to receive a email next day to notify me that there is no room available and my reservation is canceled. Yet they still have the same hotel with the same rate advertised on their website. Just like everything else made in China, their service is very poor and unreliable. Never use them.
Too Many Hotel Cancellations.
Service is still spotty because C-trip is learning how to do business in the age of modernity. Given that Tourism is a fairly new activity in China, this industry is undergoing changes and chaos is a by-product of these changes.
I tried C-trip: Had three hotel cancellations with little notice (usually on the day of arrival). Refunds came later and the fees for using foreign cards were losses.
Finding accommodation at the last minute took all the fun out of the trip and required to be driven around town by taxi drivers in search of hotels.
False Booking
We booked a flight from Hong Kong to Atlanta through Ctrip on 4/14/2017 on American Airlines. We checked in and were given our boarding pass. When we were boarding, the staff informed us that our ticket is not valid. American Airlines personnel said that they were not honoring tickets issued through Ctrip. American Airlines claimed that Ctrip is allowing fraudulent bookings through their sites. They called Ctrip and asked to refund our money. The Ctrip customer service agent said that the booking is valid and wouldn't refund our money. American Airlines confiscated our boarding pass. We were stuck with no tickets and no refund. Ctrip didn't take any responsibility for any issues that developed.
Service Is Not Up To Agoda
Compare to agoda, Ctrip has a lower price and normally provide the final cost as oppose to agoda kept saying there is a tax? No one in China quote tax in the bill.
However, when some booking go wrong, Agoda will greatly help you on refund by the hotel or even if it has to dig into agoda own money to do the refund. Ctrip can only do refund if hotel agrees but would not have any process for any refund by itself. As such, The service of Ctrip still not up to agoda and international standard.
From now on, I will book hotels from agoda since the customer service is better and actually will care to take care of you if you are a frequent member. Ctrip even after becoming one of its VIP member, they could care less about you once money got transfer over.
Refund
Don't use this website. Their policy and practices dont meet International standards
I booked 2 hotel rooms in Shanghai via Ctrip in Feb this year, my credit card was charged one night rate for each room to guarantee the booking, I was told I will get my refund after I checked out the hotel and refund may take 1 to 3 month! Seriously!
after I got home from our holiday, I realized that I received refund nearly $30 Australian dollars less due to exchange rate. So At the end I have paid more for my hotel rooms than they quoted.
Quite frankly I still don't understand why they need to charge my credit card in the first place, just because that is their policy it doesn't make it good or fair to customers
Not happy Jan
Aviod Ctrip
If you need a cheap flight in China ask a Chinese friend to help you book a flight. This site is 4 times more expensive than a non 'laowai' site. Ie a site aimed at 'foreigner prices'. For example my tix cost $1630 RMB. My student bought me a tix for $400RMB for the same trip
Secondly they have a refund policy that they do not honour. I needed to cancel a flight. I phoned them to cancel. The service was good and helpful. But I received no confirmation Email so I contacted them again and received an email telling me that I fit the criteria for a refund. This was all over nearly two months ago. I have contacted the company several times in the interim to ask about it. I received an email telling me my refund had been processed which it had not been. Then they blamed my Australian bank (Mastercard Platnium) for the delay. So they simply don't give you your money back. I have since lodged a complaint with my Australian bank to make these (insert expletive) cough up the money. And I'm telling all to stay away
Never Again
We did two hotel bookings through Ctrip for our journay around China in October 2015.
There was a note "Payment method: Pay at hotel" in the both of our bookings. Nevertheless:
1) Half of the sum of our first booking was withdrown from my bank account two days after the booking. It would be OK, no matter for me, but when we had arrived to Labrang, the HOTEL WAS CLOSED! :) The guard explaind that the weather had got too cold and they had to close the hotel becouse there was no heating there :). BTW, we had not received any notification about it by email or by sms!.. Thanks God we had a guide who spoke Chinese, so we were able to manage this situation and to force the management of the hotel to provide another accomodation instead this. There was no hot shower in the rooms, but still.. :)
2) The second hotel, in Phoenix, was great, but somehow the management of the hotel didn't notice that we arrived and stayed there :). Right after we had payed for the accomodation (by cash) and left the hotel they started to send emails about the penalty for not-checkin-in, a looooot of emails and even phone calls!!. It took time to convience them we checked in and payed for our accomodation, so they should not to fine us.. Thanks God, we were smart enough to ask for a receipt of payment at the hotel, otherwise I have no idea how we could improve this fact.
3) The money for our second accomodation (in Phoenix) were withdrown (not freezed, but withdrown) at the moment of booking! When they were back (IN MORE THAN A MONTH!) we have lost because of the rate of exchange difference around 25 dollars. Not much, but why didn't they warn us about this?
RESUME: The hotel booking throug CTrip was the only thing which has really spoild my vacation.. a lot of stress.
Very Bad Experience With Ctrip
We booked 6 returned flights for Hong Kong - Xiamen (Xiamen Airlines). Because of typhoon, after failed attempt to land at Xiamen Airport, the departing flight was diverted to Shenzhen. Xiamen Airlines staff at Shenzhen airport offered us 2 options: (1) fly on the next day from Shenzhen to Xiamen, or (2) full refund. We chose full refund and Xiamen Airlines staff provided us with documents to support full refund via Ctrip.
Communications with Ctrip re. the matter prove to be extremely challenging. First Ctrip replied that it'd be no problem providing refund as long as we have the letter from airlines, then Ctrip changed their tune and said they could only provided refund on the return leg as we had flown to Shenzhen, then they changed their tune again and said no refund at all. Different Ctrip staff called us with disjointed information and story, making the whole experience super confusing. They also raised their voice and blaming us for taking the flight to Shenzhen (which they said was the reason tickets not refundable). Seriously, the flight was diverted to Shenzhen after failed landing at Xiamen airport!
I took the matter with Xiamen Airlines office in Hong Kong who promptly arrange for full refund for all the tickets within 15 minutes. No problem raised.
In contrast, the process for getting refund from our hotels booked via Agoda for the same trip was a breeze. We just need to send Agoda a copy of the documents from Xiamen Airlines and full refund for bookings in 2 different hotels were completed at the end of the same day.
Never again would we book anything via Ctrip!
Do Not Use This Company
These guys will say they have a flight booked, but then send an email saying its cancelled. Expect nothing but a very poor experience with this hack of a company. Stay away.
