The Hitachi Ax-m83 Is A Versatile Stereo Which Is
The Hitachi AX-M83 is a versatile stereo which is good for kitchen / bedroom use.It features a CD player, tuner, tape deck, USB input and SD card reader, and line-in sockets. It also has detachable speakers and a remote control.I like the AX-M83 principally because it sounds OK and can play a wide selection of my digital music collection without me having to get up and change media. Now that SD cards are so cheap, I can scores of albums onto a 2GB card and leave it on random play all day without every hearing the same track twice. Who needs an IPod & dock when you can do that already? My gripes are to do with the user interface. There isn't much information about the digital media on the display, which is quite dim and hard to read. The most annoying part of using the AX-M83 is that when you change source you have to cycle through all six input sources, which is rather tedious. A button for each (on the remote at least) would save time and frustration because its easy to go past the source you want because the selector button is slow to react. This stereo isn't perfect but I have to say that I'm pleased with it. If I replaced it I would certainly insist on something with a card reader and seriously consider another Hitachi because they offer good value for money in my opinion.
