Seemed A Good Buy, At First, With Good Bass And Vo
Seemed a good buy, at first, with good bass and volume. But then discovered that the cd units would start to not accept cd's, even new genuine versions, with the reason displayed of "recording not closed". Now none of the cd trays will work. Can not find any information as to how to correct. The Manual is useless.
Knowing what restrictions exist on the use and having a troubleshooting/FAQ section in the manual should have been included.

I Love The Philips Mc-500 System, Bought Mine Back
I love the Philips MC-500 system, bought mine back in 2003/2004. Was looking for a small and relatively cheap system that fitted in with my room.
This fitted the bill perfectly. The sound (more specifically, the bass) is incredible. At half volume these amazing speakers can make the bed on the other side of my room vibrate!
The styling: Very modern, and a small form factor make this a perfectly sized stereo for any room
Inputs: I've got my PS2 connected to the aux input, and my PC connected by USB. The USB software may be a bit poor, but Windows XP/Vista have built in drivers for it, so just plug it in, open your favourite media player and use the play stop rewind and fast-forward buttons on the remote to control your music from anywhere! It's really a great feature.
Just buy it. You WILL NOT be disappointed!

This Small System Has Amazingly Loud, Clear And Ve
This small system has amazingly loud, clear and versatile bass and crisp clear sound. The Philips MC-500 puts some much more expensive systems to shame. Friends are stunned that such a small system can give such a big sound. No sound destortion even when cranked up full volume. USB software is somewhat unreliable because of the program that is supplied.

When I First Set Out To Buy A Stereo, I Wanted Som
When I first set out to buy a stereo, I wanted something small and packed with features....but I also wanted outstanding sound quality. When I first saw this systems USB capabilities it caught my eye, after a quick listen to it, followed by listening to a much bigger more expensive Sony unit I was amazed and dug out the cash.
I have had the unit almost a year now, unfortunately the AMP blew but thanks to excellent support from Philips it was replaced within a week. The amp blowing was probably my fault. Every person that has seen my system has said "wow, it's small....I bet it doesn't perform". However after Giving the speakers a workout with Cypress Hill everyone changed their minds and wanted to buy one. The USB is very useful, it removes the need for a soundcard and can easily keep up with my friends SoundBlaster 128. The feature that transmits the track name and remote control through USB has never worked for me, partly my fault but also the Software it was supplied with was terrible and went south for winamp which doesn't support the track name sending feature, I'm currently trying to find a way to fix this.
Bottom line - Great system, Great support, excellent bang for your buck.
