I Love My Iriver, Stores Heaps Of Music And Can Ea
I love my iriver, stores heaps of music and can easily be used as an external harddrive. I installed 'rockbox' as a dual boot firmware which has better sound and games and stuff, i reccomend this to any iHP-140 owner.
I fried the motherboard on mine buy charging it off an inverter in the car... woops, got it fixed and has been running sweet for even more years.
what a great device, they should make more of them!

It blows iPod's away!!
The iRiver iHP-140 is simple to use in Windows. It does not use iTunes. The battery lasts longer than 1 hour, unlike my friends very expensive iPod, and it still looks like new, even after 3 years.
Nothing better to match it!!

The Iriver Ihp-140 Is A Brilliant Mp3 Player! One
The iRiver iHP-140 is a Brilliant MP3 player! One of the best ever made in my opinion. This is aimed more towards those who like to use their MP3 collection how they want to, and not how iTunes or some other annoying peripheral software attempts to tell them. Simple drag & drop file system using native Windows. No messing around with software also means you can UPLOAD to a hard drive (a feature seriously lacking on an iPod). I upgraded mine to the Rockbox firmware so I can now record radio, create m3u playlists, play games and many more features. I also installed a 2200mAh battery in it so that I now get 29 hours of playback from one charge. This is the benchmark that all players will have to live up to for me.
Hi Albie, In order to change the battery you will first need to purchase a T-5 torx wrench which you can get at Sears or on ebay: http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_SessionID=@@@@0676904705.1148997100@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccghaddhliljejfcegecegjdghldgfk.0&pid=00941707000&subcat=Screwdrivers&vertical=TOOL&ihtoken=1
The battery you will require is a 2200mAh (or thereabouts) 1st/2nd generation ipod battery available off ebay. Here is a forum where I discovered how to do it with all appropriate links etc.

The changing of the battery is not particularly difficult, however there is one thing that you must do carefully: this battery requires you to reverse the polarity of the two wires inserted into the white connector (red now becomes black & vice versa). When I did mine I accidently touched the wires together & saw a spark, luckily no damage was done & my battery duration normally runs for 24-29 hours. Enjoy
i have the same player and was told that you could not change the battery? as mine is dead and won't hold the charge, if you can change it where do you get a new one and how do you do it? i would be very grateful for any info. regards Albie.

Iriver Ihp-140 Is A Perfect6 In Every Way...
iRiver iHP-140 is a Perfect6 in every way...
More than enough memory for any music lover I have well over 300 albums on it and its so easy to navigate and the battery lasts about 14 hours... dont believe what ipod users tell you they all die in a couple of hours unlike the iriver. I dont need the radio because It holds all my music but its handy for listening to the cops hehehe cos it has no signal limiter. Oh and it comes up on your computer just like any other hard drive and uses the windows file navigation system on the iriver gui.

I've Had My Iriver Ihp-140 For A Few Months Now, A
I've had my iRiver iHP-140 for a few months now, and its truly a great MP3 player. 40gb of disk for the price is excellent. It has more features than you can shake a stick at too - FM radio, recording via built in mic or external (supplied) mic, optical in (another recording source) and out, fully featured remote control, support for numerous file formats, firmware upgradeable, great battery life, fast file transfer and lots more.
I've not been disappointed by it yet. As mentioned above, my only slight slight gripe is that its a bit bulky when compared to some other players made by a fruity company! There's not much in it though and you won't regret buying one of these babies.

The Iriver Ihp-140 Is Really Good Value For Money
The iRiver iHP-140 is REALLY good value for money and you will not be disappointed with it. It has tons of useful features such as the tuner, recorder and its massive memory (40gb). Still, it also can play different music formats and comes with lots of options for different types of music (WOW surround sound). It looks stunning and has provided me with faultless reliability and is well worth the price.

I Have Owned The Iriver Ihp-140 For Five Months No
I have owned the Iriver iHP-140 for five months now and I don't know how I got by before buying one. I have a large collection of albums 900+ that I'm converting to MP3 for my home network/tv/hifi system, but I needed something to play my music away from home. After a little surfing I went and bought an Iriver due to it's large hard drive and features.
The sound quality is excellent now that I junked the original earphones and bought the In-ear units made by Sony. This gave the unit a wide response whether you play classical or rock music. The equaliser gives enough options to suit any output device you plug it into. I have plugged the unit into HiFi's and using the best equaliser setting and random play and enjoyed hours of music, 14 hours is no problem. I have stored 900 albums now, along with several large files containing photo albums and programs and I still have 20 gigs free. I like the fact I can plug it into any PC and display pictures or run programs of any size, beats a memory stick any day. I have used the radio in the UK and US without any problems.
The remote unit comes as standard with the iHP140 with all the controls of the main unit in five buttons. This makes for easy use in the car or on foot as you can store the unit out of harms way.
The things that could improve the iHP140 are the toggle switch on the main unit to navigate the menu, with the cover on the main unit the toggle is almost impossible to use unless you have long nails. You can't use random play on a single directory only on a single file or the whole directory. Lastly there is a small gap between tracks. I understand there is a software update coming soon; maybe these quirks will be addressed.
It doesn't matter how big my music collection gets I will always have enough space to store them and take them anywhere.
Hey, the iaudio also supports the mega-cool OGG Vorbis format! The sound quality of 128kbps in OGG is easily as good as CD quality! (which is 1141kbps!!!)
