I've Heard From Other Reviews That You Cannot Put

I've heard from other reviews that you cannot put protected songs from WMP onto this Sony NW-E407 player. I think this is true, but I have not encountered this problem. All my song on from WMP are stated 'no' on the protected column (on the far right). If you are someone who downloads songs from Limewire, Kazaa etc. then I should not think you will encounter any problems as I have tried this. Although I don't recommmend downloading songs from Limewire or Kazaa etc as they are most likely bundled with spyware and it may be 'illegal' sharing of songs.

The Sony also comes with a plastic clip which clips on to the player itself. It's fairly strong when connected to the player but very weak and can snap if not. I hardly use it as I find it gets in the way.

I Have A Sony Nw-e407 Mp3 Player And You Would Thi

I have a Sony NW-E407 MP3 player and you would think that a company like Sony would be able to design software that works on all versions of Windows, post 1998...

You would think that when you buy from a Sony Centre on the high street, you would be buying directly from a Sony shop...

You would think that when you buy Sony products, you will receive the best possible customer service available...

1) It doesn't 2) It's independent 3) It's a joke!

Lesson Learned!

I've Had The Sony Nw-e407 Mp3 Player For About Hal

I've had the Sony NW-E407 MP3 player for about half a year now, and it's still in pristine condition. I've dropped it a couple of times, but it's still working fine. Battery life is outstanding, and if you charge it for 2 hours, then the battery life will last for roughly 2 weeks (it does for me, and I listen to it on the go).

What I don't like is that it doesn't come with a neck-strap. This is because, if I use my extension lead too much it starts to split. I stopped using it and I had to buy my own neck strap, It wasn't too expensive though. So if you don't like reaching down into your pockets to get your MP3 player, then get a neck-strap.

It also doesn't change the format of MP3 files into ATRAC form, because ATRAC reduces the size of the music.

Before I bought the product I just looked in the catalogue. I thought it was about time I bought an MP3 player, then I looked at this one, and I thought wow.

The good thing about it is it isn't too common. All the chavs in my school have iPods which are rubbish. I'm the only person in the school with this MP3 player, which makes me feel unique.

The Sony Nw-e407 Portable Mp3 Player Is An Excelle

The Sony NW-E407 portable MP3 player is an excellent player, that I bought after reading previous reviews on here. Apart from having to use the Sony Connect to download new music (which is a bit dearer than Tesco), it's fantastic!

The software is easy to load and self-explanatory; and once loaded, it gives brilliant organisational capabilities for your music. Tracks are easy and quick to transfer. My hubby has already become an MP3 widower!

I Really Like The Sony Nw-e407 Mp3 Player. 1gb Is

I really like the Sony NW-E407 MP3 player. 1GB is enough for me, and you can search for your tunes really easily according to group/artist/album. It looks really smart and is a good size. You can change your display to show different information, and it is pretty simple to work. I had no problems with transferring songs onto it despite a pretty dud computer.

This is definitely a good choice for someone looking for a smaller MP3 player in the £100 price range, with 1GB storage capacity. I am pleased so far.

The Sony Nw-e407 Mp3 Player Is A Very Intelligent

The Sony NW-E407 MP3 player is a very intelligent compact machine by Sony, and it is easy to operate. It has easy functions, and yet many to choose from. 1Gb gives unlimited storage to carry your favourite music.

A best buy for this Christmas, and highly recommended!

I love the player but annoying that you have to have a pc to charge it. I travel and don't always have access to computers to charge this.

Personally, I Would Rate The Sony Nw-e407 Player 8

Personally, I would rate the Sony NW-E407 player 8/10, due to its efficient capabilities that fulfills most of my needs for a decent MP3 player. As I've listed above, there are pros and cons to this player. However, I bought it for a pretty cheap price (not gonna bother mentioning the company name I bought it from) so what the heck, I'm happy with it. Besides, it was new...or at least 2 months ago:P. So people who are reading this review, this is certainly a GOOD player!

However, if you want something newer...go for the NWE-307, it's good too...especially with its bean-like shape. Plus, it's not as easy to scratch the screen, so there's something to keep in mind;) Well viewer, happy hunting and I hope this review helped you out with your dilemma (believe me, I know when people search like crazy over the Internet to find the right player for them...I had to look out for ~1 year before I realized this was the one for me:P) Finally, thanks for hearing me rant about my opinions about the NWE-407 and I wish you best of luck in finding your ideal player ^_^

This Player Is Awesome! It's Very Small But Has A

This player is awesome! It's very small but has a zinc die-cast case, making it pretty rugged. The battery life is amazing at 50hrs and the charge time is miniscule (30 min for 80% charge). R & D money well spent, Sony! And the sound quality is spectacular, even without any enhancement (just flat sound) it sounds better than any iPod I've ever heard! The display is really crisp and bright for something so small. And amazingly, they've stuffed a "search" feature into this thing.....

The drag and drop MP3 File Manager program is really neat too, it installs on the flash drive of the player so it goes wherever you go, allowing you to add music to the player from whatever computer you may decide to plug it into. For some reason though, if you have an MP3 file that has a blank ID3 tag, that is no song/artist info the player will display a bunch of nonsense gobbly-goo for a track and artist when you get to that track. It SHOULD simply say "unknown" or ideally display the filename for you.... That is my one beef with this player. Aside from that it's amazing. I HIGHLY recommend it!

I Bought The Sony Nw-e407 Mp3 Player, Not Because

I bought the Sony NW-E407 mp3 player, not because it has the looks, the feature, the battery life and that it is very small (similar size than the Philip audio key 512mb), but it will actually enable me to convert all the song to ATRAC format which will reduce the size of the song originally and yet still producing high quality of music (although it takes time to process it).

However, the downside of this mp3 player is that in order to access to your music on the computer, you must have the software to enable it to run it, which means that your music cannot be open or share in any other computer unless it has a Sonic Stage programme!

Also, the LCD screen is pretty useless when it's sunny and the only time that is useful is at night.

Finally, to the most critical part of this mp3 player is that it probably has high level of radio-sensivity going on which any of you could make a big fool of yourself in front of many shopper, as it appears to make all the shoplifter's detector (or whatever it called) 'beep!'in any store (such as HMV, WHSmith, Woolworths etc) whenever you enter or exit the door from these stores...so that makes everyone turn a glance on you for when the security guard came to search your bag for nothing.....

Phew, for the sake of any of you who wants to buy a decent, stylist, high quality mp3 player, I strongly recommend this, however there will be a price to pay back for the advantage. Therefore I wish good luck to any of you who is condering this mp3 player.

I Love My Sony Nw-e407 Network Walkman, It's Good

I love my Sony NW-E407 Network Walkman, it's good looking and the features are everything you would want or need from a 1Gb flash player. The display is looks fantastic and is easy to read, although in bright sunlight may be difficult to see. Navigating your music is simple, with an easy to understand grouping and menu system. The battery life is simply astounding, with SONY claiming at least 50 hours, and charge times via USB are miniscule. It is ultralight and compact, but feels quite durable.

The only complaint I have really, is the software, which didn't work out of the box. I had to patch Windows XP before SonicStage would even start up, and then adding your library is a painstaking process, as it chokes on large directories. I had to resort to adding one letter at a time (eg. all the 'A' artists, then 'B', etc.) They really need to open it up to simple drag and drop access through Windows.

I also don't like SonicStage, and have only tried to use it once. I've installed the "drag and drop mp3 file manager" instead.

It installs a little exe on the flash drive itself, so it will work wherever you may decide to plug the device in. You run the program from the flash drive and drag-drop your MP3 files into the main window, using folders to sort them into playlists. Works like a charm!

hi, i have a different network walkman, and the sonic stage is very handy and the easy to use. I dont find it hard to install or to sort out music. And the music is 2 x less size incomparison to the same music file only on an mp3 format. I think that Sonicstage is pretty good, but i would ask if that sony would add a burning capability. Overall, it is pretty good
