Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKX

The Western Digital 500GB hard drive (WD5000AAKX) was bought to replace a Hitachi Deskstar IDE HD.

I was completely blown away at the sheer speed of the drive compared to the old one, for the price, I was definately NOT expecting something so powerful and sturdy.

The Hard drive was bought from AriaPC who sent the package out the next day, which then arrived less than 24 hours later. The total time from ordering to unpackaging was less than 40 Hours!

I especially like the fact that the drive supports 6Gb/s rather than just 3Gb/s (which is usually the case with cheaper drives).

The drive itself is also rather quiet too, which again, was unexpected.

The one bad thing I have to say about this hard drive is the 16mb cache. A larger cache would be nice, but really, who can complain for the price?

I am 100% satisfied with the purchase and with the service provided by AriaPC.
