I Recently Purchased The Logitech Mx 1000. I Have

I recently purchased the Logitech MX 1000. I have been in the market for a couple of months for a cordless mouse but have been a little put off by the things I have read on them ie, pointer lag (pointer not moving as quick has it should when mouse is moved) and just generally not performing as good as a corded mouse.

Well you can forget all that with the Logitech MX 1000 laser mouse. The movement is as smooth as a corded mouse, although I have to say the mouse I had before this was a Logitech corded mouse and the MX1000 is smoother than that. The MX1000 has fast RF transmission, what this means is there is none of the drawbacks that are associated with cordless mice such as mouse lag.

The mouse has a litium ion rechargeable battery that Logitech says will never need replaced, also the mouse comes with a 3 year warranty which is some warranty. The top of the mouse has the now common left & right buttons (which are part of the casing but a press in the usual place will make them function) a scroll wheel for scrolling up and down long documents and also if you press the scroll wheel to the left or right it will scroll that way which is handy for items that are too big to fit on screen, pressing the scroll wheel down will bring up a magnifying symbol which when used to view a picture will at a turn of the scroll wheel will zoom in or out of the image, but this can be reprogrammed as so can the rest of the button apart from I would say the left & right buttons, but I maybe was wrong as I am using the mouse with the buttons as they are when I bought the mouse which I find more than useful for me.

On the side of the mouse is a button which has an arrow pointing forward and another with one pointing backwards, these are used for going forward or backwards in your internet browser, but some browsers may need to be set to work correctly with them but this can be done with the supplied software, and so can the other buttons. Between these two buttons is another button which allows you to switch between different programs you have running, by pressing this button it opens a little window with the currently running programs in and you just select the one you want.

The battery life is around 21 days between charges depending on usage, the mouse also shuts down after 10 seconds of not being used to maintain battery life, but a movement of the mouse brings it back to life with no lag whatsoever! I have been using mine for 4 days and the battery indicator on the mouse is still showing 3 segments (which means full capacity). With the mouse you get a base/charger which then plugs into a spare USB port, this works as a base to pick up the signal from the mouse and also a place to charge the mouse. There is also a on/off switch on the bottom of the mouse so that it can be switched off for example if you are using a laptop and this mouse, you can store it in your bag without having to worry about it being activated my movement and running the batteries down.

The only negative thing I can say about this mouse is it is a bit heavier than I was used with, with having a corded mouse, but I suppose it is only natural that a cordless mouse is going to be heavy as it will have a battery and all the other radio transmission bits and bobs in it, but having said that it is not that heavy in use and I am already used with it already after 4 days of owning it. The software that comes with the mouse allows you to re-program the different buttons and also alter the sensitivity of how responsive the pointer is to move. I should have mentioned earlier, that this is not an optical mouse but instead it is a laser mouse which is 20 times more accurate than a optical mouse, another reason to buy this mouse.

Overall I cannot recomend this mouse enough,it is as fast as a normal corded mouse, its as responsive if not more than a lot of corded mice, this mouse is suitable whatever you do, I must admit I was a bit worried at first because they are some cordless mice that are terribly slow unresponsive etc. But the Logitech MX 1000 is most definitely not.

I read this review and purchased the MX1000 but only because the retail outlet, London Drugs, assured me there would be no problem returning it within 30 days. I won't be returning it. This mouse is everything stated in the review, straight, honest and factual. In so far as the mouse being heavy, it really isn't noticeable for me as I use a metal mouse pad, ( Allsop brand ) which I picked up from Future Shop. The MX1000 is a really nice mouse and worth the extra cash although I'm keeping my MX510 as I think it is a great corded mouse but it doesn't have the tracking specs of the MX710 but then as long as it works as good as it does, I'm quite satisfied. If only my OS was problem free!
