Design faults. I run an I.T company which have seen dozens of these machines fall over. Major concern is overheating and potential fire hazard. Do not touch if offered one of these units. We had long discussions with Acer who eventually replaced many of the mainboards however these also fell over. They will still not officially admit any design faults. Not fit for purpose END OF!

Hehehe I Do Not Use Gas Anymore, This Damn Thing I
HEHEHE I do not use gas anymore, this damn thing is attached to the top of my car, and the car is pushed forward by the fans. I just unplug the 2 cable when I need to stop. I was going to suggest to NASA that they could attach 10 of these around the space shuttle and do a vertical launch without SRBs or liquid tank. but however the PC is still operating, I am using it now, and thinking of replacing the fans with much quiter fans.

My Acer Aspire Was A Good Computer While It Worked
My Acer Aspire was a good computer while it worked, $600, its cheap, but it broke at 6 months, Acer repaired it under warranty, replaced the motherboard, 18 months later, it craps out again! won't turm on, won't even run the hard disk--obviously another motherboard problem--

I bought six Acer Aspire L100s in March 2007. So far 3 of them have broken down and overheated beyond repair. Parts are also incredibly hard to source

Good Side Is Acer Made An Awesome System! Bad Side
Good side is Acer made an awesome system! Bad side is (judging by reading complaints) Acer failed miserably to emphasize how vital keeping this pc cool is to its longevity. Some important instructions they forgot to tell customers were a) it must sit vertically not horizontally b) front door cover must be open at all times c) recommend that it operate in an area or room with good fresh air flow (not limited i.e small room/space) d) have dust cleaned professionally every couple months------------------------> most complaints you read about Acer l100 are related to fried motherboards and HDD's due to overheating because they did not do A, B, C, D but this is not the customers fault, it isn't Acer's. So thumbs up to acer for creating a cool, sleek pc and huge thumbs down for failing to give their customers crucial info that would keep their l100 going for a long time.

I Bought My L100 Back In March, Attracted By Its E
I bought my L100 back in March, attracted by its elegant design and small size. It was a refurbished model, and just after the 6 months guarantee ran out, it started to have problems freezing up because of overheating. The fan seemed not to be working, because after the start light flashed a little, the thing would just hang. After several attempts using the recovery disk, I finally managed to get everything going again (although I lost all my data and had to re-install everything). Started having the problem again, but by pressing the "delete" button as it starts up, I got to the BIOS setup, and went to "PC health", and disabled "smart PCU fan control." This means that the fan now runs all the time, but everything runs nice and cool, but noisy. Perhaps I can keep the sound insulated in a polystyrene box from the fish market...The annoying thing is that if I had discovered the "disable smart PCU fan control" trick a little earlier, I might still have all my data....

I Really Want To Like This Computer, But It's A Lo
I really want to like this computer, but it's a lot of work. I've had to develop a system with it laying on it's side, with Ice packs underneath that I have to swap out every 2 hours or so. If this Acer is meant to be somewhere cold, like a concrete basement floor, then go for it, otherwise you'll need something that lets the air in in my opinion therefore I do not recommend the Acer Aspire L100 PC Desktop.

Worked great at first. Liked the small size. HD had to be replaced before 1 year, then exactly 1 year later, complete failure. Needs new processor, motherboard (which acer doesn't seem to have) and cpu. 3 months after comp failure it still isn't fixed and it was suggested it won't be cost effective to fix, and I will likely get a refund.

As With Everyone I Think, Sadly My Acer Aspire L10
As with everyone I think, sadly my Acer Aspire L100 has gone bust. Starts by over heating, freezing then generally stops, many people use extra fans to keep it going, the hard drive is far to big for the case I feel and on one occasion I took the outer lid off and burnt my fingers on the drive. The size for one thing and very quiet. Lots of usb ports, only found front ones by accident. Smooth design. Do not buy this computer. You will end up out of pocket. I have now had to buy a new normal computer. PC World have stopped selling them so I can only think that they have had loads of trouble.
