Dell Studio 15" Green Laptop - Great Spec At A Dec

DELL Studio 15" Green laptop - great spec at a decent price (special offer deal) 500gB HDD, 4Gb Ram, Intel Core i5 processor £560 Feb 2010. all looked good until started beeping repeatedly as if a usb stck had been inserted. Hours and hours on support to india (they were pleasant enough, just doing their job), 1st engineer visit (3 or 4 days later as they didn't have the motherboard in stock (even though it appeared to be a card reader issue). replacement board was faulty ! waited another week for engineer with another board - replaced OK, he seemed to stop the beeping, but I suspect he didn't connect the card reader and said it was all fine, except card reader not working and it was a software issue to sort over phone with support in India. several more hours on phone. problem persisted and they wanted to send another engineer - to which I had to strongly insist and speak to supervisor that laptop be collected and sent back to be repaired as I wasn't taking any more time off work waiting for engineers (who don't actually work for Dell - they are subcontracted!). they (not Dell - the sub-contractors) 'repaired' machine returned about a week later - card reader still not working - relatively minor, but when you spend £560 on something, it should work fully, and it was a feature we particularly use for SD card out of camera. Another call to India, they insisted on trying more software trickery, controlling the machine remotely, another couple of hours and they admitted it was a hardware issue....This time I was ready to blow! They wanted to send another engineer. NO NO NO ! I want a replacement machine, let me speak to manager etc. Eventually, after waiting for mgr to call me, they agreed to replace machine. Would take 2 weeks to build. (I had to get quite forceful, but said I know you're just doing your job, but I can't do mine because we've been without a working laptop for 5 weeks !) Replacement arrived - hoorah ! All fine and dandy for 3-4 weeks. Last night it didn't shut down properly. This morning it won't boot up. Call to india, quick diagnostic check - beeeeeeep beeeeeep -code 0142. Told to switch it off. Engineer 'will visit tomorrow to replace Hard Drive' and, wait for this, if I have any data on disc I need to retrieve, I need to take it to PC world or independant PC engineer to extract the data before 'dell' engineer visits. -dell' engineer not trained in data backup. Then she tried to sell me an extended warranty !!!! If they sucessfully replace the HD, I know that I'm going to be expected to call India again and spend hours reinstalling windows 7 etc etc etc, and then more hours reinstalling Office, and other software we use.... If I added up my time wasted on this, I could have afforded a VERY nice holiday. I think I need one anyway. I will never buy a Dell again. Look good, spec good, but VERY unreliable and ineffective service.

They Don't Supply The Component Parts You Order.

They don't supply the component parts you order. Customer Services is none existant. Having to resort to legal action just to get what I paid for. As for technical help - none existant. Steer clear. Totally dishonourable company.

This Has Been A Really Dissappointing Product To O

This has been a really dissappointing product to own. For the money you pay, on paper, you get a lot for your money in terms of processor speed, RAM, HD size. Unfortunately, what you get is dissappointing. The keys feel tacky and cheap, I regularly have problems with the touchpad registering a mouse click when I'm typing so the cursor ends up where the pointer is. Also with all that RAM(more than double my previous laptop), I was dissappointed at how much the computer pauses to consult the hard drive(which is soooo slow) when I so much as start typing on apps such as Microsoft Word. The DVD motor is annoyingly loud and vibrates/buzzes a lot especially when watching DVDs.

I'll probably keep this another year so it hasn't been a too much of a waste of money then ditch it for something that's better built.

I Don't Have Very Good Experience With Dell. I Got

I don't have very good experience with dell. I got it in june 2009. Had problems with it. DVD drive was making noise while reading dish, one was able to feel vibration in keyboard. Heat sink was overheating which i was able to feel at touch pad.Fan/hardisk was making too much of sound. In short the brand new DEll laptop wasn't looking a brand new at all. hence after spending a lot of time on phone, emails, 3 engineer visits who replaced the parts and sending it to get fixed twice didn't prove fruitful. Faults have not been removed completely. Hence after pushing them alot they agreed to give full refund.

This laptop was very strong in processing and loads of memory for gaming and fast processing, was very happy while ordering it but DELL ruined my dreams.

Hi Guys, U Might Have Heard A Lot About De

hi guys,

u might have heard a lot about dell and its great support team. But its my responsibiliyu to make you aware that the dell laptops are below par in their performance as compared to the competitors(apple hp etc). I puchased a dell studia a month back and the motherboard for which was faulty i had to run from pillar to post to have the guys pick my system for repair. After they took my laptop to the depot they told me that the system part is in backlog and will take 2 /3 days to be available. these 2 /3 days became 1 month and still my laptop was not repaired. Worst of all the call centre guys of dell are worse than high school drop out and they will not understand a word of english and try to fool or trick u that your problems will be addressed in 1 or 2 business days and the problems u are facing are of insignificant nature. they will misinterpret the informations and tell u the same. The dell tech support is the worst support i have ever known in my life. I bet u if u buy dell ur life is screwed.

Buyer Beware Of Dell Studio Laptop.. I Bought My S

Buyer beware of Dell Studio Laptop.. I bought my Studio about 4 weeks ago. I have had various problems, including failure of keyboard, unable to run more than one programme at a time, lost of emailing ability. Dell have attempted to correct the problem twice from their call centre stating that it was caused by downloads (PC is fully protected). They then wanted it back to fix it. My laptop is for my work. After 5 hours on the phone and threats of "formal complaints" taking staff names, Dell eventually agreed to collect the laptop and give a full refund. I was told by their staff at the call centre that approximately 10% of their calls related to faults with the Studio range!

Having Used Dell For The Last Five Years With No R

Having used Dell for the last five years with no real problems apart from the odd gremlin which was quickly sorted out by the support people, decided to purchase the Dell Studio (£ 750.00) with no problems at first. After just over two months the computer started to play up, unable to connect to internet lost e mail settings on top of other problems, even though the pc had full protection, called Dell support ( Bangalor) WOW what a difference!! TOTALLY NOT INTRESED, passed blame on to my ISP even though I could still get internet connection on my old pc. On yet another call to try and resolve the problem I was told that the drivers had not been installed correctly, so I asked if it could be sent back under the warranty, where I was told it wasn't their problem. To sum up having spent a total of six hours wasting my time with Dell support I'm left with a useless PC and will now have to fund the repairs myself, NEVER AGAINE!!

The Dell Studio 15 Is A Really Good Laptop. I Thin

The Dell Studio 15 is a really good laptop. I think Dell make the best computers so am pretty loyal to them and the Studio 15 is no different.I read a lot of reviews and before finally deciding which laptop to buy I cam across the Dell Studio 15 reviews and was quite impressed by their spec. This Laptop has everything you would expect and ll at a pretty good price. Its fast, got loads of memory and is pretty compact, yet still has a 15.4 inch screen. The battery could be better but thats the same on most laptops. Definitely recommend the Studio 15 though
