X-oom Movie Clone

Made the terrible mistake of buying on Spec from PC World without checking the reviews. Price looked okay and box showed great features.

The program loads up well in Win7 and has an easy to use interface.

Unfortunately it cannot do anything it says it can do - it cannot even update itself from the internet!

I bought it for simply batch converting my own home 720p movies to a format for use on an IPod - suffice to say it does not work on my PC which is less than 6 months old - HP Laptop i7 with Win7 OS, no active AV, runs all other software, even XP software titles just fine.

PC World will not refund as the package is opened. Last time I EVER shop at PC World or by a Xoom title.

The software is not fit for purpose - is it just fake?

i bought this software based on the blurb on the box.

i installed it on the same day. i need to backup my DVD collection to HD.

of course the software did not work, however after reading this forum and getting downheartened by it, i downloaded the following two pieces of (free) software

mcldecrypt.exe just open it on your pc

machinist.dll open the x-oom programme files and copy to there.

now the SW works, but does run slow.

I installed the product which works very fast. Afterwards I was asked to download an update. Then I have used the software several times.

First I was disappointed that you cannot copy any protected DVD. But then I asked google for the dll which is obviously missing.

Now I can copy my movies to any devices. Great job. I like the feature of burning music CDs from youtube clips. I work with Windows 7.

First, I installed this software using my laptop's internal DVD drive. After installation my computer no longer acknowledges that the drive even exists. It's driver must have been dumped during the install process.

Being that my internal drive is now useless until I can figure out how to fix it, I connected my laptop to an external DVD drive to begin backing up my DVDs. Process seemed to be going fine as I inserted the DVD into the external DVD drive, loaded the X-oom Movie Clone software, selected backup to hard drive, movie only and clicked Start. Then up pops a message saying that the software will not allow copy written software to be backed up which is totally contrary to the advertising on the box that the software came in.

Now, I have a messed up internal DVD drive and have purchased worthless software that does not do what it said it would do and have wasted both my time and money. Also, I went to their website for support but it's worthless as I don't speak or read German.

DO NOT BUY X-OOM MOVIE CLONE PRODUCTS!

Oh how I wished I'd checked some forums first.

Bought my 'Movie Clone 5' from PC World just before Christmas based on their sales rep's recomendation! Sure, easy to set up and easy to use - if it worked! All I can say is it definately does NOT do what it says on the box. It's not even allowing me to connect to their site to check for updates - I click ok to check as the pop up box asks then moments later, an error message saing cannot connect to site and the programme closes.

Some basic video transfers using either AVI, MPEG4 M4A, all fail miserably, and as for DVD copying - just dont get me started. My sons very disapointed as it was essentially for him. DON'T buy it.

This program is truly dreadful. Setup was not easy - had to go online twice (as administrator of course) - the second time it downloaded the latest version of Clone 5. Ease of use would be good if it worked! Paid '39.95.

What a waste of money!

My dad bought me x-oom movie clone 5! What rubbish it is you can't do anything with it. It says you can copy DVD movies to your iPod you can't do no such thing because it comes up with error all the time. All I can is don't buy it waste of money.

i own this X-oom Movie Clone program and thought it was a great piece of kit as i use it to convert videos for my ipod

I purchased this program. It came with a link to update to be able to copy DVD movies for personal use. I've only been able to burn to DVD RW media only.

I've been sucessful in copying about 10 DVD Movies in the week I've had it. I have a 7 yr old, and we all know they don't take the best care of movies. Overall, for the $5.50 I spent for it on ebay, was well worth it.
