Love It!
I totally love my HTC Desire S, I pretty much do everything on it; emails, internet, text, Amazon Kindle, take photos, video chat, listen to music, sat nav - you get the picture :)
It's actually the second one I've had, I had the original HTC Desire and got the S when my contract was due an upgrade.
Yes battery life isn't great but considering what I do on the phone I'd be mad to expect long battery life, the poor phone's in constant use!
I've got a holder and charger for while in the car and one of those portable charging devices so I don't run out.
I like the screen size and the functionality. I don't have any speed problems that some others have had.
My contract is due for renewal again in May, I'll defo be getting another HTC, might go for a bigger screen this time.

Decent Phone, But Battery Life Very Poor, 3 Signal Poor Too
I did not want a phone with a screen bigger than 3.7" - so this was the best choice I had.
Its a decent phone. Specs NOT as good as the Sensation or Galaxy S2, but like I said, I didn't want a mini tablet in my pocket... :)
The phone does heat up at times, and even after using the task killer, it takes a while to cool down. NOT sure what it does... ;)
All apps have worked for me, no issues there. Multi-tasking is good too, no complains.
The main issues I have with the phone are:
- Battery life, too poor. Have to constantly keep charging the phone. Even with moderate usage and playing a few games, the battery will drain in half a day. Its a really shame, because it scares the entire phone.
- Signal strength, but I guess that an issue with 3
Oops...
scares = scars ;)

Love It
i have had this for a while now and at the time i was looking for a phone to buy, this was the only htc with a front camera, which i liked as i could use it to check my makeup as a mirror:),this phone does recieve quite a few system crashes, but every phone does with me because i do so much stuff at once. One thing i have to say is that my video camera is absolutely terrible, although my freind has this phone and his seems to work fine, it constantly crashes and freezes, but i might contact vodafone and im sure it could be repaired. One other reason i got this phone is so i could video call using the front camera, but the phone ddoesnt let me video call, there is apps for video calling but i have had trouble working them. i love the features of this phone and its good for ifyour ever bored because of the amount of games on it. i am happy with this phone and dont mind keeping it for another year and a half, i just hope their will be more skins and themesfor it. all in all a good phone, and the battery life on mine is quite good i can sometimes go without charging it for two days, and i am constantly texting on it.it is good for the internet too and good if you like social networks.

Why Buy Desire S
Battery life is very short no matter what you do, even with the app killer app.
Most of the apps from the android market do not work, incompateble or will crash the system.
The wifi reception is very poor.
Aftersale support is very bad.

I Saw The Htc Desire S And The Samsung Galaxy 2 At
I saw the htc Desire S and the Samsung Galaxy 2 at a trade show before they were both launched, and have been waiting for them to be released. The Desire S was available first, so I grabbed one, but was initially worried about not waiting for the Galaxy 2.
After a month of using the Desire S, I'm very happy with it. It feels very high quality with its metal case, the screen is very responsive to touch and the processor give a smooth scroll on photos and when scrolling through icons.
The htc Sense GUI is very easy to use, and as this was my first Andiod phone, I quickly learnt how to download apps from the market, instal them, group them and customise the handset with everything I need.
Compared the my old Nokia e71, the battery life is bad. I have to charge every night, but this is mainly because I use it much more. Games, movies, web browsing, facebook, etc. I actually use it as a WiFi connected PC most of the time, rather than turn on my real laptop if I want to look something up.
I have already recommended it to my boss. He looked at the Galaxy 2, and said it looked very cheap compared to the Desire S. I totally agree!
