The Canon Ixus 40 Is An Absolutely Fab Camera. If
The Canon Ixus 40 is an absolutely fab camera. If you can find it buy it. Which? rates it as a best buy too. After coming back from a holiday in china I realised that my old bulky Kodak digital was no good and i needed a pocket sized one i would be more likely to take out. This is it and i find it hard to fault. I am now getting an Ixus 55. Not because I need a better camera, I suspect the 40 may be that, but because I left my 40 in my back and the display at the back was damaged. However, the viewfinder means that i can still take pictures. Be warned, in a soft pocket your camera will be safe, but if with bulky items get a case. Nothing is infallible, not even Ixus 40...

Although I Am Very Pleased Overall With The Canon
Although I am very pleased overall with the Canon Ixus 40 digital camera, it is not recommended because of the terrible red eye problem from a reputed manufacturer such as Canon.
PS: The Red Eye setting has absolutely no effect.

I Have Had My Canon Ixus 40 Digital Camera For Som
I have had my Canon Ixus 40 digital camera for some time now, and I have been really pleased. It is very small and neat, and you can fit easily in to your pocket. After taking pictures you can zoom right in and see close up. I managed to do all my passport photo's using the camera and the Canon software.

We Were Very Pleased With Our Ixus 40 Camera. It R
We were very pleased with our Ixus 40 camera. it really compact has a 2" LCD screen and generally takes excellent photographs. The only part we are having difficulty with is flash/nighttime photography as our night time photos sometimes come out far too dark. Maybe it is matter of experimenting to get it right.

Had The Ixus 40 For A Month Now After An Ixus 430
Had the Ixus 40 for a month now after an Ixus 430 and the quality of the pictures is just as good. Lighter, smaller and a big advantage is the 2" screen and use of SD cards. Good quality pictures outside and in with clear and vivid colours and sharp contrasts. Auto mode is excellent but plenty of other options if you want to do things yourself. Flash is very good, especially indoors and battery power is also slightly better than the 430. However charge up before you go anywhere and you should be OK. (Replacement battery can be bought for as little as £13 on the web). A very good all-round, tiny camera and typical of the excellent standard of Canon.

I Haven't Found Battery Life A Problem As I Bought
I haven't found battery life a problem as I bought a spare, it does go down without too much warning though and the zoom is a little on the jerky side, apart from that I have only praise for the camera, and I have blown the photos to A4 without too much loss of quality, I find I'm carrying this around all the time and it's no trouble. Movie mode is very good, and I always shoot stills on highest quality whatever camera I have..... now looking for an Ixus 50 to see how much better that is..... Canon has got a sure fire winner here.

After A Lot Of Searching, I Bought A Canon Ixus 40
After a lot of searching, I bought a Canon Ixus 40 last week and I'm very happy with my choice. I think that the camera produce images with excellent picture quality, both on Auto or Manual programs. It has a 3x optical zoom, 60fps 640x480 video, 50-400 ISO, 6 auto programs, a lot of manual settings and many flash modes. Ixus is only 8.5 cm but it has a very big (2'') screen. Canon additional software is also very good. I think that the only "bad" think is the battery. It takes a special lithium battery but its duration doesn't satisfy me.
My opinion is that Canon Ixus 40 is ideal for someone who just wants to press a button to take a photo but it will also cover more sophisticated needs.

I Shopped Around For A Long Time Before Opting For
I shopped around for a long time before opting for the Canon Ixus 40.
I had a Nikon coolpix 3300 for a short while but was not impressed by the cheap feel to it.
In short, for just over £200 you get a tiny (and I mean tiny) camera which feels likes it is carved from solid steel. It has a great 2" screen and astounding functionality which is so easy to use.
Even a complete amateur can take a great photo within 2 minutes of opening the box.
I don't mind saying that I'm a very fussy person and regularly return products if they are not up to scratch. After 2 months with this little gem I can safely say it is staying in my shirt pocket for good.
The video mode is very impressive and with a 1gb sd card, you can take over 8 minutes of video at 30fps., which looks as good as a dv camcorder!
The manual mode is easy to use and switching between special effect modes is effortless.
I've had my Ixus next to a Casio exilim and can say that the Casio cannot compare in terms of quality and sheer good looks.
This camera has that wow factor. Buy one now.
