Shame About The Feeble Battery Compartment Lugs On
Shame about the feeble battery compartment lugs on the Fuji MX 1200, otherwise an excellent little camera that first retailed at over £200.

The Fuji Mx-1200 Digital Camera Was One Of The Bet
The Fuji MX-1200 digital camera was one of the better ones for its time. Some cameras that have more mega pixels don't have as good pictures. The colors are true and clear with no wrong effects. The MX1200 also has manual settings such as forced flash, white balance, and brightness. It also uses standard AA batteries.

The Mx-1200 Is A Very Good And Easy To Use Digital
The MX-1200 is a very good and easy to use digital camera. I am especially fond of the thumbwheel control feature. This allows you to setup the camera to your specific needs in a very simple & efficient manner. I usually use the lower resolution for my pics and they have always turned out very well. I currently use a 128MB smart media card and it will hold approximately 999 pics at this resolution. The LCD screen allows you to immediately view and if necessary retake the pic. The control features for "backlighting", color adjustments and built-in flash are very convenient features. Even though most consider it an entry-level camera I feel that it will accomplish the needs of most average users. About the only drawback that many may consider is that it is only 1.3 megapixel and employs only optical zoom. Overall this is a very good quality camera which is easy to use not too bulky to carry around.

The Fuji Mx-1200 Was Once One Of The Most Popular
The Fuji MX-1200 was once one of the most popular digital cameras on the market and is still very popular today, despite its age and the newer improved cameras available. As you would expect from Fujifilm, this camera is extremely well made and stylish in its appearance all round. Operating the camera is very straightforward with Fujifilms novel 'thumb wheel' function selector which lets you easily change into different modes including; photo preview, photo ready, self-timer, delete mode, setup and various other options. Previewing is done on the decent sized full colour LCD on the rear of the unit which provides very good clarity with a 4x magnification feature allowing you to zoom in and scroll in any direction to review photos taken in closer detail. The camera uses a 2x digital zoom feature to take close ups of distant shots, although as with most digital zoom cameras this is no comparison to optical zoom in terms of picture clarity. A macro mode is provided allowing close-ups to be taken at a distance of 10cms which is ideal for photographing objects and even plates of food with remarkable detail and depth of colour. The camera stores photos on standard 'SmartMedia' cards which slide easily into the side of the camera under a hinged cover. A standard 32MB card will easily hold around 2 dozen pictures or more, even at highest resolution, and a 64MB card will seldom need clearing. The camera although only 1.3 megapixels in resolution, takes outstanding photographs with extremely sharp resolution at 1280 x 960 pixels and with exact colours, certainly equal to prints taken with any decent 35mm camera. Even at the lowest resolution 640 x 480 the camera takes outstanding photographs, both indoors and out. The built in flash has numerous flash settings including 'red eye' effect reduction, and there are also exposure balance settings and white balance settings, which is impressive and unusual to find on a camera such as this at the lower end of the market. The only drawback is that this camera does not have a USB (or any) PC interface. However, USB SmartMedia card readers are cheap and readily available so this presents little problem. A great little compact digital camera for general family use and even for professional/artistic use.
This camera does come with a serial interface cable.

This Is A Very Low Cost Digital Camera With Result
This is a very low cost digital camera with results, inside and out. The built in flash is great for normal use but also gives you a full manual override facility. it only comes supplied with a 2 Mb smart card & that's a little small, however the camera itself compares well if not better than most in its price range. Unfortunately the transfer is very slow and is a major problem. A USB card reader is very costly but does cut the transfer time down dramatically. to finish with i have not been disappointed with it & would recommend it to anyone looking to get into digital photography.

Excellent Digital Camera For The Price. Image Qual
Excellent digital camera for the price. Image quality is impressive as long as the settings are cranked up to the max (1280 res, high quality). At the top setting you get around 50 pics to a 32mb card. This can be adjusted downwards to around 1000 images at the lowest settings (not to be recommended though). Two resolutions available - 640x480 and 1280x960 with 3 quality settings for each (basic, normal, fine). Also 3 sharpness settings available.
Zoom is digital only so a 1280 res image, when zoomed, gets 'chopped' to 640 res. On my camera, images tend to get underexposed when using the flash. This is easily remedied by either post photo manipulation or using the manual settings.
Manual allows control over lighting conditions and exposure settings, but not over aperture or shutter speed. Shutter is controlled automatically and appears to range between 1/2 to 1/500 th of a second.
No hot shoe for an additional flash unit, so if additional flash units used, they need to be true slaves.
Underside has a mount for use with a tripod and camera has a 10 second self timer so no need for a remote shutter release.
Camera gives excellent results in low light conditions e.g. sunsets with accurate colour rendition in virtually all lighting conditions.
If you intend doing a lot of distance work, then i'd suggest looking for a camera with an optical zoom (more bucks!) but if you want a basic point and shoot then you could do a lot worse than invest in this camera.
As a cheap intro to general purpose digital photography i'd heartily recommend it.

I Recently Purchased An Mx-1200 From Currys For Th
I recently purchased an MX-1200 from Currys for the princely sum of £99:00. At this price it is amazing value for money for anyone who wants to take family snapshots, or send pictures over the net.
The lens is pin sharp, exposures are reliable, and there are just enough features to make using the camera interesting without making it complicated.
Colour reproduction is very good, and the screen is a joy to use, with a digital zoom facility, and very good on-screen information.
My MX-1200 has four AA batteries, and I can only assume that Fuji have up-dated the camera. I have found no problem with excessive power drain, particularly if the camera is used in energy saving mode.
As an entry to digital photography the MX-1200 is excellent value for money, and is a street ahead of anything else in this price range. I would give it 8/10 overall

A Great Low Cost 1.3 M Pixel Camera. Fantastic Res
A great low cost 1.3 M Pixel camera. Fantastic results, both inside and out. Has built in flash, but also full manual override facilities for the `arty` stuff. Only has serial transfer capability, and supplied 2 Mb smart card a little small, but comparing with similar spec cameras there's no contest. If slow transfer becomes a major problem, you can always invest in a USB card reader. Would heartily recommend to anyone looking to get into digital photography, you wont be disappointed!
