We Have Two Dsc-w350s Bought As Xmas Presents In 2

We have two DSC-W350s bought as Xmas presents in 2010.

My advice is to check out the cost of all the proprietary stuff you need to use with these Sony devices.

First, our cameras didn;t have any memory cards - and wanted Sony's Pro Duo memory sticks.

Second, my little boy lost the battery somehow (he's only 10!) and I bought a cheap replacement from the internet - the camera actually warned me about using 'compatible batteries only' and switched itself off! You can't buy a replacement battery unless Sony say it's ok!

Thirdly, I visited THREE camera shops looking for a cable to allow us to watch the HD films on the telly and got told that they didn't stock "Sony cables". What's that? Yes, you have to buy a really expensive cable (NOT the one supplied in the box) to watch your HD movies!!!

I will NEVER buy another Sony product because I feel they have robbed me by stealth - there is nothing on the box or in the literature that tells you about this being locked in to proprietary accessories and consumables - you only find out after you have made the purchase.

I have two Kodak EasyShare cameras - they use rechargeable batteries from the pound shop and mini-USB cables, also from the pound shop. The memory they take is normal SD card types you can get for a few pounds.

Why do I need special Sony memory, cables and batteries?

Don't get ripped off like I did.

Oh, the pictures are truly exceptional and the product is superb, but my complaint is this terrible policy of forcing you to buy their own brand replacement parts.

Imagine if your car only accepted Ford petrol...

Not Satisfied With Sony Cyber-shot Dsc-t50. Lcd Br

Not satisfied with sony cyber-shot dsc-t50. LCD broke and costs more to fix it than to buy a new camera. Do not buy!!! No warranty anymore and even if there was it does not cover such replacement of damage.

The Sony Cybershot Dsc-t50 Is A Truly Great Camera

The Sony CyberShot DSC-T50 is a truly great camera, I have had it for 18 months and it hasn't put a foot wrong, it has never crashed and has never annoyed me except when taking the odd picture. The 3.0 inch screen is fantastic, pictures come out vivid and clear and the touch screen takes away all the bulk of buttons which would make the screen smaller. It is so simple to use. At the top there is a 3 slide switch like on the sony ericsson k850i which changes from playback to photo and video modes. This saves time going through a menu. The touch screen navigation is so easy to get around and with a bundled in the box stylus attached to the camera strap that is also bundled makes no need for grubby finger prints on the screen, the touch screen is responsive and takes little time getting used to. Overall the best digi camera ever and makes a few heads turn as well. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I Had The Sony Cybershot Dsc-t50 Camera For A Year

I had the Sony CyberShot DSC-T50 camera for a year. The picture quality was outstanding as it was very vivid and crisp. I went to Hawaii and unfortunately on the first day I arrived, the screen got messed up. I had taken good care of it and hadn't used it that much and was very disappointed. The repair fee was outrageous so I just got a different camera. But if it didn't break, then it would have been a great camera. So be careful if you are thinking of buying

Camera Returned As Defective Screen Problem And We

Camera returned as defective screen problem and we have now been notified of a problem caused by moisture rendering the camera incapable of economic repair. No further explanation given except for a verbal note that 'they get a lot of this' and we have to pay £30 for them to send back the camera so that we can throw it away ourselves. This appears to be a common theme but if you have a similar story then please report it here because Sony have really racked me off.

Any stories to tell?

Great Little Camera With Some Excellent Features A

Great little camera with some excellent features and easy to use.

However, I am very disapointed with treatment by Sony in connection with a camera not working and returned to them. Bought by me in Australia for Christmas present (end November 2006) and reported and returned for repair early December (about 7 days out of their warranty although still covered by The Sale of Goods Act). I have not seen the camera since but am assured it has not been misused/wet but they insist that it has water damage - want to charge me £30 to return it to throw away. I have bought 7 of these (very similar models) for family and presents for friends but will not be buying any more unless someone makes an attempt to compromise on this. I am assured that it has not been wrongly exposed to moisture.

Great Camera For Under 250, Found It To Be Reliabl

Great camera for under 250, found it to be reliable partly because of the aspherical Carl Ziess lens which it has. Would definately recommend over the Nikon s7 and Samsung i7.
