Code C1300 Keeps Appearing, This Is A 13 Month Old
Code C1300 keeps appearing, this is a 13 month old machine that has only been very little used. This is a poor buy and Sony should be ashamed of this product

The Sony Rdr Gx3 Is Now Well Past Its Sell By Date
The Sony RDR GX3 is now well past its sell by date in the market. Can be slow plus no hard drive, so expensive for what it is, bought too early, at time of purchase it was a good item.

I Had The 'disk Dirty' Problem That Got Progressiv
I had the 'disk dirty' problem that got progressively worse over the last few days. Since DVD lens cleaners should not be used on DVR's, I shot some bursts of compressed air into the unit (with the tray open) and my problem seems to be solved!

The Sony Rdr Gx3 Has Worked Fine Until Three Weeks
The Sony RDR GX3 has worked fine until three weeks ago. It then locked up with a DVD produced with Nero. E-mailed Sony - no reply! After reading comments showing that this is a very common problem. Disk is spinning, cannot be read, when switching off, says POWER OFF and stays in that state. Some said if you leave it overnight it will eventually release the disk. I tried leaving it for for hours, then I pressed the eject button and pulled at the disk tray front until the disk started making a noise as it was forced forwards, don't force too much, but after about four goes, the machine gives in and releases the disk! The machine now works fine again.

I Also Have Had The Same Problem With The Dvd Reco
I also have had the same problem with the dvd recorder,
The dvd got stuck in drive and it wouldn't open or stay on so i sat down and thought for a mo and this is what i came up with.
I found out it was just the dvd rom drive that was the problem not the rest of the recorder so i took the dvd rom out and put it in my PC and the PC found it straight away thank god lol.
Ok now it was in i still had to find a way of opening it so i chose my nero smart start and this is wat i did...go to nero smart start and choose extras and then test drive and then along the top is run test, click on that and choose load eject.
Your drive should open ..well mine did so good luck becouse nothing else did and it's better than chucking your DVD recorder away. okies hope it works for ya see ya around..
Any way if you still have no luck hears an idea.. why don't you just fit an old DVD PC rom drive in there and just have it as a player it should work ok, buy for now good luck again see yazz. ps all the best...pat gunn...
Thank you for your review. My next problem is that as my machine has been declared unrepairable, as they no longer make the disc drive they told me needed replacing. I have a lot of unfinalized discs. I should have done them as I recorded them but I thought the machine would last for years. I was ok with having to repair it sometimes so long as it did what I bought it for. Is there a program that can finalize the discs on the computer for me??? thank you for your help, chris PS I had a computer tech chech it and he swapped the drive over and the found out the fault was not in the drive. So he said he couldn

Generally I Was As Frustrated As Anyone With This
Generally I was as frustrated as anyone with this product but I still use it. One thing that may have to be done is for everyone to buy a DVD cleaning kit which will clean the dusty lasers inside the machine and this may improve.
Also make sure your DVD Recorder is not blocked in a small cabinet or has other equipment such as a Satellite Receiver or VHS player on top as this may block any cooling vents for the DVD Recorder and could get too hot for it to function properly.
I found this review very helpful because...it is technical !

My Sony Rdr Gx3 Stopped Working After 26 Months An
My Sony RDR GX3 stopped working after 26 months and a DVD got stuck. The display read power off and it kept restarting and restarting. Nothing works anymore. The eject codes do not work (eject, play, stop, or power, stop, forward and eject ) and neither does the inside ejection button. So it's the end of the line for this product. That may be okay for a cheap China made product but it was not a waste product, this was a precious buy and a top end of the market deal. I feel cheated by Sony. Won't ever buy it again.
I found this review very helpful because...It proves that the machine is not well made. My problem was that as it was recordind it stopped recording my timer recording because it said "the disc is dirty" So the next time I went to the machine it wountn"t release the disc. It seemed to want to write the info to disc but couldn"t because disc was dirty. So I couldn't remove disc. When I payed $45 at Sony's service center they told me (after waiting 6 weeks)That the disc drive was needed to be replaced but they don't make it anymore so the recorder couldn"t be fixed. I was not happy. I took it to a computer tech, who changed the drive over and then told me that the fault wasn't in the drive. So he put back the drive and said there was nothing further he could do. He didn't charge me as he said he couldn't help me. I had very good service from him. So now I need to find out if I can finalize my unfinalized discs using a program on my computer?? Thank you all for sending your reviews in as I have found it very hard buying I thought a good machine that I expected to last for years. Not all of as can afford to update every few years. chris
