The Grundig Gdv 620ht Dvd Player Worked Fine For T
The Grundig GDV 620HT DVD Player worked fine for the 12 months of its guarantee from Currys, but has since gradually stopped working and now only plays a handful of DVDs. No help from Grundig UK (ceased trading), then found out from a Grundig spares shop that it isn't a Grundig product but a badged up product for Dixons Stores Group ("probably a Matsui or similar"). Currys will have a look but at £50 + parts would be cheaper to buy a new one, which I have - a Toshiba from Comet!

As With Everything You Only Get What You Pay For.
As with everything you only get what you pay for.
I expected the Grundig GDV620HT to be a bog standard system for £190.00, but was impressed with the sound and picture quality.
However the are a couple of downers. (1) In the early days the picture went to black and white and whobled for a few seconds, but now it's ok and (2) If the volume is set high a clicking/ticking sound is heard. But in conclusion I have had it about 18 months and I don't feel that I waisted my money.
I got the sony 32fx68 and I now have no more problems
Hello again, John Williams here remember I said that sometimes the picture whobbled on this player well it turned out to be a problem with my tv, as it whobbles when watching from my freeview box, going to get a new telly, the Sony 32 inch kv32fx68 looks nice, any comments?. regards John.
The only way to resolve my problem was to return the NSTC disc to the seller on e-bay (who refunded my money without fuss) and to buy a PAL copy. Every thing is now working as it should and I am happy. Bye bye everybody, bye bye.
In reply to RMS. I have set my player to all region as discribed, disabled macrovision, but I still have the problem with the NSTC disc playing in colour. In black and white it's steady but in colour it's like watching a strobe effect, I'm missing tiny sections of the action, any more suggestions anyone? Regards Trumpet
There is a way to get the GDV620 to play other region discs.
1. Open the drive tray.
2. press the buttons 9,8,1 and 7 on your remote, one at a time and in order.
3. You will now be in the hidden menu where you can change the region from 1 to 6 by pressing enter on your remote control, or set it to 9 for multi-region.
4. You can also disable Macrovision from this screen so you can copy DVD's to Video.
5. If your TV does not support NTSC you can change the output via the normal menu.

Was Very Happy With The Grundig Gdv620ht When We F
Was very happy with the Grundig GDV620HT when we first got it, then 8 months on had to bring it back to the shop for an 'upgrade of software' because it wouldn't play a new DVD.. now 4 months on and the exact same problem again - no playback of the new DVD, at this point, our warranty's out, so apparently it will be cheaper to buy a new player than have it fixed. A shame, given the great surround sound.
We got the supposed update at the Currys store where we bought it - however, it was within the 1 year guarantee at the time; since then we have had to simply buy a new player to see any new films - if anyone knows of an upgrade disc or similar - any info would be great!
Where did you get the software update done?
Exactly the same problem and the same solution! Turns out it's a Dixons Store Group product but with a Grundig badge on the front, presumably 'cos if they'd called it a Matsui no-one would have bought it. Hoodwinked? Couldn't possibly comment!

Well what can I say. It's great only £199.99 well under priced for what you can play on it and how well it works. Sounds fab with 5.1 sound. Plays cdr..cdrw..mp3.rds radio. dts "digital out "..ax in put from your tv. all from scart lead. Must make sure your scart is two way and tv is out as well as in on your scart connection and yes there is a hack code to make it multi region

At £160, the GDV 620HT is an excellent system. Easily comparing with standalone players priced at twice the price.
Decent quality speakers and good DVD playback, this player also boasts one of the easiest mulit-region hacks ever. The player will take budget CDR containing all your mp3 etc. I havn't had any problems whatsoever with CDR's that wont work (and I use the cheapest money can buy)

The Grundig Gdv620ht Dvd Player Is A Bargain Basem
The Grundig GDV620HT DVD player is a bargain basement home theatre system with limited auxilliary audio function (can`t play VCR through built in amp) and only just passable sound quality primarily due to high frequency background noise during playback. My original system was returned to the supplier as I suspected it was faulty and the replacement has the same characteristics. If I had payed the full retail (£200) I would have demanded a refund!. I am also keen to find out if it is possible to play VCDs on this machine ( a software upgrade possibly?) I can`t get mine to play them.
hi you can get sound from your video to play !!!
if you connect the dvd into the back off the video via scart and video into tv then put the dvd onto aux and this should work !
on my tv i have an xbox via s-video ps2 via scart and sky via scart and if you put the dvd on to aux and change the output on the tv to what you are using ie ps2 or sky i can run the sound but only in 2 channel !!! hope this has helped!!
I've had my system for over 12 months and have managed to play vcd and svcd and cdr's with no problem.
Surprised at your problems as I've not experienced the sound issues on mine. I can create VCDs and SVCDs and audio on memorex CDRWs which it plays fine. I've not yet written a DVD-R that it'll read, but others reckon it will providing you use quality media.

This Is My First Dvd Player So Some Things I Menti
This is my first dvd player so some things i mention may well be problems inherent in all dvd players.
I got this model for 170 quid online. It's got everything: speakers, woofer, built-in amp, lots of wire etc.
The box is pretty ugly, it's heavy and feels overweighted. I don't like on/off switch because from some angles you can't tell if it's on or off. My machine seems to go into stall sometimes when i am trying to get it to open the cd tray and i have to switch the whole thing off and start again, i suspect this problem comes from an underpowered chip proccessor, anyway it's a bit frustrating. The speakers are small but have a pleasingly weighty feel and the wires are all tabbed so that you know what wire goes into which speaker and their is a diagram on the top of the machine to keep you right too which helps you get it going quickly. There is lots of wire too which is good. The remote is pretty pathetic. It's cheap, the buttons are tiny (i mean really tiny) and the colour of it doesn't even match with the box. I found the remote confusing and i still haven't really figured out all the functions. The sounds quality seems really good (to my uneducated ears). The machine can be multi-regioned for nada through the remote (i managed to do this quite easily) which is a big bonus when you think it costs 60 quid plus to multi-region a sony, panasonic or toshiba machine.
This machine is dirt cheap for what you're getting and sound quality seems pretty good to me. If you buy this don't expect to be getting something equivalent to the quality of a panasonic or sony. It's not fantastic but for 170 quid you won't go wrong.

The Grundig Gdv620ht Dvd Player Is Excellent Value
The Grundig GDV620HT DVD player is excellent value for money. I paid £190.00 for a home cinema kit that is in comparison with other makes bordering on the £400.00 mark. All in all, an excellent buy

This Grundig Gdv620ht Is A Good Dvd Player And Yes
This Grundig GDV620HT is a good DVD player and Yes it plays VCD and CDR disks.
The trick is to use professional grade CDR disks.
I use Infiniti Professional disks which are working well.
I am very pleased with the Grundig GDV-729HT I bought at Christmas. Plays MP3's great. Only issue is it makes noise, disk spinning up I guess every 5-10 sec or so during DVD/MP3 playback. Has anyone else experienced this? Can be quite annoying at low volume settings.
Best regards,
Peter
check out www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk for the multi region hack.
It's the Same hack for the Goodmans DVD-3500PK.
I have mpeg 1 and mpeg 2 files on my hard drive which I burn to Infiniti Professional CDR media using Nero Burning Rom.
You create a Video CD (VCD mpeg 1) or Super Video CD (SVCD mpeg 2) and the result is a CDR disc that plays like a DVD but not as good quality.
Nero Burning Rom can be found at www.nero.com
