Marantz DV4300 - If you're looking for top quality, don't look elsewhere: this is the DVD player you need...

Stunning picture quality, sound is great (but honestly, I can't really hear a difference from my previous 2 DVD players, my ear is not good enough maybe... sounds awesome to me, with my Teac dolby digital receiver and my Messina speakers).

Note that even without turning on the progressive scan, the picture is still amazing (I had to concentrate really hard to see the difference actually!).

Forget the 5 DVD chargers of some other DVD players, you don't need it. What you need is the perfection in image quality, and with this Marantz DVD player, you have it!

Overall, an excellent player, though it niggles that I cannot use the component connections with my Philips LCD television (see bad points). I am now using a QED Sqart cable (video only) to connect DVD to TV, resulting in an excellent picture with superb definition and depth of field. Sound quality is also excellent, and complements my NAD receiver superbly. I have considered upgrading to a player whose component outputs are compatible with my tv, though the only players that offer any improvement in performance are in the £600+ price bracket.
