Best Tv. 13 Years And Still Works Excellent

I know it did cost a bunch of money originally in 2001 when I bought it but worth every penny. Still rocks at everything. Never had a single problem. Never spend an additional dime on it.

I would like to upgrade to one of these fancy TVs out there but would hate to loose this one. I am sure space would look better with a flat screen but will the new ones last this long.

Thank you sonny

When This Tv Worked It Was Awesome But You Would T

when this tv worked it was awesome but you would think with a $2800 price tag it would have lasted more then 6 1/2 years.. I also had the line problems with my tv I learned how to manually adjust them and was greatful because I thought it solved the problem it worked alright again for a few weeks after solving the lines. but then it started every once in a while flashing green and shutting itself off if i left it off for a few hours it would work fine for about 2 hours before starting it again... today it now just started flashing blue and shutting itself off but un-like the green shutting it off and letting it rest just doesn't work I've heard that these problems are caused by bad CRT's Problem is sony stopped selling them about 2 years ago. I called customer service also got the run around on what I could do about it..the saddest thing is that you figure a tv this pricy and made by sony which used to be a brand you could trust should atleast last 10+ years

I Purchased The Sony Kp-51hw40 In 2003 With Price

I purchased the Sony KP-51HW40 in 2003 with price of $2500. Within two years was having flickering problems. By paying heavy repairing cost to sony service dealer i got it fixed and again am having problems of red lines and red pictures. I tried to adjust red knobs to remove lines but still problems continues after few seconds. I am frustrated now. I dont want to pay more than $ 200 to fix it again. I would appreciate if some show me the way to resolve this problems., But hence forth i will not buy SONY TV. Such a big company could not provide tech support over the phone or on lines instead of that they are sending to Sony service dealer. There should be some realistic solution for this.

We Bought The Tv In 2002. It Is Now 2008. It Has

We bought the TV in 2002. It is now 2008. It has had light rainbow lines in it for over a year now. It now shuts itself off. I am told the tubes need to be replaced but that they are no longer manufactured. I will be taking the TV to the Garbage dump. Not a good deal for only 6 years of use.

Same Problem With Sony Rear Projection Tv. Have Ow

Same problem with SONY rear projection TV. Have owned for a few years, warranty expired. A few months after expiration changed Blue CRT to the tune of $500. A few months later changed convergence panel to the tune of $500. This past Saturday TV went red and popped. Was told red and green CRT needed to be replaced but SONY no longer has them. TV tech can order rebuild from California for $1,000. I will never ever buy SONY products as long as I live. Each time I called SONY I got some clueless rep that took a statement and refereed to certified tech. Unbelievable!!!

Let's See... When I Bought This Tv New In 2002, I

Let's see... when I bought this TV new in 2002, it cost me three grand. At the time, the salesperson BEGGED and pleaded with me to get the extended warranty. I generally don't purchase an extended warranty with anything, so I opted out. The guy wouldn't hear of it, and he actually ended up giving me the warranty for 3 years. That should have been my first indication that something was wrong. We then went through 5 tubes in the span of 3 years, which I thought to be ridiculous. The TV required frequent dialling in of the CRT voltage regulators by service techs for various red/green line problems. When the warranty ran out in late '05, each of the CRT's had been recently changed, so I didn't renew.Mercifully, this TV finally bit the bullet this past Saturday (Dec,1, 2007) accompanied by a rather loud snapping noise, green screen of death, and a pretty quick shutdown. So, I got 5 years out of a $3000 TV. I don't expect a TV to last forever, but this one was pretty frustrating, and truthfully, the thing was a piece of rubbish. I'm finished with Sony forever, because I just don't trust them after this. I WISH that I had the sense to do the research on this model before buying it. If I had, I would have read about all of the line, flicker, and other issues that plagued it, and I never would have bought the thing.I now have a 42" Panasonic plasma and I'm thrilled. If anyone needs a defunct 51" Sony to use as a boat anchor, give me a call. It's yours.
