It's not great but not too bad. Quality is variable. Sometimes I guess the top chef has a day off and the food is rather bland. Other times it can be quite good. What this place needs is a more exciting menu and higher quality ingredients.

Having had an excellent chicken tikka starter here on a previous visit I decided to get a takeaway main meal.

Bombay aloo, chicken pasanda with pilou rice and a peshwari naan.

The potatoes were hard and undercooked the pilou rice was basically boiled rice, bland and tasteless. The main was thin curry soup with pieces of chicken floating in it... not even remotely like a pasanda, and then they managed to burn the naan. If I had wanted curry soup with burnt toast I woulda gone to tescos and got one for a fraction of the price.

Cannot be beat, good food, great staff and value for money. What else does one require?

Management has changed a bit over last 35 years but still good value, I hope they carry on as they are

This was my first and very LAST time at the Rajgate Indian restaurant in ampthill. The food was bland, tasteless and service was awful. Thye made no effort to ask how the meal was going and offered no remorse when I complained about the food.

When I walked in to the Raj Gate in Ampthill it straight away made me hungry. The smell was lovely! We got seated straight away even though it was quite busy and we got our food served to us within 20 minutes of being in the Raj Gate. Everything on served to me was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. I have been to many indian resturants in my life but i must say this one is one of the best. Not only that. It was very well priced. 9/10.
