The Terrace, Hornchurch

We booked The Terrace restaurant in Hornchurch for a 70th birthday party for 16 people. From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome, balloons were given to the smaller children, and a surprise cake was discreetly taken away to keep cool for later.

The restaurant is very inviting from the outside, with a large terrace with outdoor heaters (if required). Inside, there is a casual bar area where you can have a drink before going to your table. The restaurant itself is very large and open and with a cool Mediterranean feel. There is a smoking area which is quite separate from the rest of the restaurant - though the smokers in our party just went onto the terrace for their fix!

The menu is varied with a good selection of appetisers and main dishes. There are also a number of pasta dishes - some quite unusual. There is also a separate children's menu. Food off of this menu is free.

The food was excellent.

The atmosphere when we visited was very nice, with a mixture of ages - though I would suspect that the evening crowd would be mainly 20's - 50's, and no children.

Very impressed and will definitely be returning (without the children!)
