Terranova, Welwyn Garden City

We booked a table at the Terranova because we have always been meaning to go there, it was our wedding anniversary and we are looking for a venue for a family gathering of 16 plus.

The menu appealed to us as the choices are simple well explained and seem fairly averagely priced for what I would call above standard quality of food. Unfortunately when my main course arrived (Medaglioni pizzaiola) I was not overly impressed, the so called beef fillet medallions (their description) were completely covered by sauce and approximately 3mm thick, I would say the total weight for the 3 pieces was about 4 ounces and height when stacked less than 12mm (1/2 inch). I question this and was told this is how we do it, which of course I can't disagree with. The manager did not seem too worried about my comments but did offer to change it for a fillet of beef, which is what was expecting as medallions?

Overall the meal was good, but not exceptional; the portions were below average for the price; the service was prompt and the view was delightful. I think it would be fair to say that the £16.45 price for the Medaglioni pizzaiola is about £10.00 over price for three thin pieces of beef with a pizza sauce on. As you may gather I was not impressed and will be looking for an alternative venue for our family gathering!

Terranova, Welwyn Garden City has excellent food just don't go on a busy night ! We had booked a table for twelve but one couldn't make it. The restaurant started to get busy and we had just started eating our main and they said they needed the table so could the person I was sitting opposite move to either end of the table so they could use the table for other guests. We wouldn't have minded so much if there was an incentive like a free drink but they weren't offering anything. And said by our friend not turning up we were costing them money.
