After Reading Many Negative Reviews For The Cabine

After reading many negative reviews for The Cabinet at Reed I was apprehensive about visiting but it was Mother's Day and my Husband had booked our table weeks ago.

I must say I was pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by two happy waiters who were well prepared with the menus and very polite as we were shown to our table. The food arrived well presented and tasted fantastic! Although the tomato & chilli chutney took me by surprise (I think the chef likes chillies!)

Service throughout the meal was attentive without being annoying & there was always a waiter/waitress around to call over when we needed more drinks etc.

In conclusion, I can't wait to go back! The only negative point I can think of is the lack of highchairs. They only have the one highchair, but fortunately we had a booster seat with us as we've had this problem in restaurants before.

Very disappointing. Pictures on web site do not reflect the actual dining area of the pub. We were expecting white linen and got paper napkins. The whole pub looked shabby and in need of a good clean!

I Had Been To The Cabinet A Few Years Ago On 4-5 O

I had been to The Cabinet a few years ago on 4-5 occasions when it was created as a good quaility gastropub. Looking for a nice meal about two weeks ago we made a reservation. What a shock! This was not the same place (must be under new management?) - the service was by a group of teenagers, trying hard but untrained, and the food and menu were poor. A risotto was so badly prepared it was removed from the bill and the sauces on other dishes amateurish. The ambience of the original has gone and it was one of the worst pub meals I have had for many years. What a shame it has been ruined!

What Was Expected To Be A Fantastic Evening For My

What was expected to be a fantastic evening for my wife and i plus 2 friends turned out to be a nightmare. We arrived at 7.30 and stood waiting for 20 mins until someone asked to take our coats , then a further 20 mins trying to attract the waitress attention for a drink. Eventually the starters arrived some half hour after sitting, then mains arrived somewhat different to what we had ordered. The red wine was fine actually very nice at the right temperature but the waitress had no idea how to serve wine at a table.

All in all somewhat disapointing. I believe the Cabinet has changed hands from when Simon owned the restuarant so this may have something to do with a drop in standards.

Wont be back ..... sorry!
