Think We Got Them On An Off-night ? - All Felt Laz
Think we got them on an off-night ? - all felt lazy and indifferent to me, both staff and food. A tiger prawn starter in a soy sauce so strong it killed everything else. A lamb wellington that was chewy with a pile of potatoes that looked like a mausoleum in the middle of the plate. A pork dish on a very uninspiring bed of stir-fry. All a bit disappointing given that previous outings there have been okay and the bistro is generally well-regarded locally. It was a quiet Thursday evening and it felt like they couldn't be bothered to raise their game - a seemingly dangerous strategy as we ride out the credit-crunch.

We Have Visited Poacher's Bistro Over 5 Times With
We have visited Poacher's Bistro over 5 times within the last year and always find the staff hospitable and food excellent. We have had our anniversary here, a Christmas party here and popped in a couple of times for light lunch. They play the local produce card as do alot of quality restaurants, but actually back it up with leaflets explaining the origins of their food from their suppliers. We spent a lazy lunchtime when the sun was out with a bottle of wine and a 'poacher's platter' on their out door terrace - it made us feel like we were on holiday. Top tip - if you want to eat cheap then their early bird menu is served before 7pm and costs just £9.95 for 2 courses.
