The Rocking Horse - Famously Secret This Wond

THE ROCKING HORSE - FAMOUSLY SECRET

This wonderful Bistro is set in the heart of D H Lawrence country and shares its location with a small but interesting exhibition centre in a former Coal Masters manse.

The food is first class, and is prepared and cooked to perfection on site. The puddings and cakes are superb, and definately to write home about! The atmosphere is informal, the service is excellent - and unusually these days, nothing is too much trouble!

So, all in all, absolutely no hesitation in recommending this famously secret, and incongruously set restaurant. I'm sure Lawrence himself would have waxed lyrical had he had the good fortune to have visited it!

I Recently Went To The Rocking Horse - I'm A Local

I recently went to the rocking horse - I'm a local resident and did not even know it was there until my friends suggested that we met there one afternoon if you can combine your visit with a walk around the durban house museum that's a nice treat also when i was there , there was a art exhibition on so what was nice some stunning pieces. The combination of food and environment where perfect for me as a middle aged man.

one negative - very poorly sign posted from the road so if you don't know its there you probably won't ever know

Excellent Service And Quality Food , Not All Micro

Excellent service and quality food , not all microwave meals and packets like most places exceptional fresh home made cakes , the rocking horse bistro and its quirky owner David powell combined with there chefs and waiting staff make this place a peaceful and enjoyable retreat - I've spoken to friends and colleagues that also go and we feel the food and service as improved alot in the past year possible down to new a new chef etc the service and food quality were always good before but now they are very good - if you have never been please try and if you have been please try again you wont be disappointed.
