If You Want To Go Somewhere That Looks Quite Inter
If you want to go somewhere that looks quite interesting and has a style of it's own then I'd have to say that Bourbon Restaurant would probably fits the bill.
However if you want good food at a reasonable price, Bourbon is not the place to find it.
I ordered the Sirloin steak which cost £18.50 and came with Half a tomato and a small jug of very watery pepper sauce. In order to have chips/garlic chips with this I had to pay a further £2.95. (The steak was not bad but was not great either)
Admittedly, the other food on the menu is cheaper with a rib-eye burger with bacon and cheese costing just £9.95 (chips included). However everyone who ordered this at my table felt it was overly salty and did not particularly enjoy it. In fact out of nine people only one person was happy with their meal, they had pasta of some variety.
One of our party had a latte that, due to lack of latte glasses was served in a wine glass (this may be being ultra fussy but the restaurant did not appear to be full of latte drinking patrons which make me wonder exactly how they manager to run out of latte glasses)
Only two people ordered deserts, one getting the Lemon Cheesecake with fresh cream which he described as amazing and ate every single crumb. So this would certainly be a point scorer on an otherwise disappointing occasion.
The other desert ordered was chocolate Brownie served with brandy snap and vanilla ice cream. This looked truly delicious. Sadly it didn't taste quite as good as it looked. The Brownie was hard and chewy, like tarmac. It may have tasted of chocolate but it was hard to think about flavour when the texture was so wrong.
I would not recommend Bourbon to anyone but if you want to try it for yourself then order the pasta and the cheesecake.
Bourbon was far from dreadful but did not justify the price tag in any way shape or form and could do with a visit from Gordon Ramsey to kick the management in to touch and get the chefs to have some pride in what they are doing.
Apart from the food, the staff were not impolite but didn't seem to work too well as a team. After dropping a glass and spilling a drink a waitress then brushed up the glass but didn't mop the area and shortly after another waitress slipped and fell quite heavily. Also when my plate was being lifted the waitress decided to pick up my knife and fork first, and drizzled me with pepper sauce.
I think that maybe the staff could be better trained (although it is common sense that if you spill water you then mop it up and you do not lift cutlery and dribble sauce on customers).
