Monasterboice-inn/donegan's Pub
This inn is located near the Monasterboice ruins near Drogheda, County Louth (located on the old Belfast-to-Dublin road). We were lost while trying to find the ruins and stopped to asks directions in a nearby town. A helpful priest directed us towards the ruins and suggested we stop and lunch at Donegans at the Monasterboice inn. It was conveniently located about a mile from the ruins just off the M1 in County Louth.
We found the staff to be very friendly and the seafood chowder was creamy and delicious and my wife's pureed vegetable soup was also well received. We asked our waitress for directions and she summoned the manager who took the trouble to walk with us to the parking lot and point out the road to the ruins in the distance. We found it without any further problem and found the ruins and the tasty lunch to be well worth the trip.
