Disappointing
Two of us ordered Red Thai beef curry and Crispy Duck Cantonese. The duck had shrimps added to it and being allergic to shellfish I couldn't eat it. The curry was not Thai but Chinese curry with some coconut milk added to it. Very disappointing. Will not return.

I Was Dissapointed
I ate in the Mandarin Palace last night as my boyfriend loves Chinese food. I ordered the Thai Red Curry that came with a whole lot of extra ingredients , lots of big chunky red yellow peppers , sweetcorn and water chestnuts.....why?? It was yellow and not red as one would expect! It was described on the menu as hot, it was not !
It was at best a chinese curry with some lemon grass and coconut thrown in....not good ! If you want a good Thai Curry , go to Siam Thai in Dublin or even Chilli Bananna ..... both are excellent!!
Very dissapointed , but the service was good.
chilli banana in dublin is the best iv ever been to

The Mandarin Palace Is A Great Place To Dine In Or
The Mandarin Palace is a great place to dine in or out. However, the atmosphere is usually very lively, so if you are looking for a quiet out of the way place to dine, find somewhere else to eat. Stan Lee and his staff are fun lovely people and I've never been to "The Palace" without participating in the festivities. If you are planning a party, this is the place you want to go. As a US citizen, I make it a point to drop in everytime I am in Derry. The food (especially soup) is fantastic and the atmosphere is second to none.

The Worst Chinese Meal I Have Ever Eaten. Pre Cook
The worst Chinese meal I have ever eaten. Pre cooked, bought in chicken ,dropped into semi warm sauce. The floor under our table was filthy. I didn't see a single Chinese member of staff and I suspect there were none in the kitchen either. This place obviously caters to a certain type, ie chips with everything , a feed of microwave curry and a few bottles of wicked blue. Will never be back.

I Visit The Mandrin Palace At Least Once A Month W
I visit the Mandrin Palace at least once a month with friends and have alway enjoyed a wonderful night there. Not only is the food excellent but if you are lucky enough to catch the owner performing his Elvis tribute it's great fun. I have observed that his staff have all been with him for several years which indicates that they are very happy working.
I tried many of the dishes availabe and have not been disappointed.
I've had several friends and relatives from England and America visit the Mandarin Palace and all speak highly of the experience and the friendly atmosphere.

Was In Mandarin Palace, Derry On A Saturday Night
Was in mandarin palace, derry on a Saturday night for a friends birthday. There was a lot of big hen parties and birthday parties in at the same time as us so I would would recommend booking a table a few days before you go for your meal. The food was nice and the menu offers a large variety of food for all types - Chinese, Thai, Vegetarian, European and all for a reasonable price. Great atmosphere for big parties as there was a Karaoke and an 'Elvis' lookalike in doing the rounds so if it's a quiet meal you're looking for you're probably better off looking somewhere else at the weekends. Certainly the friendliest staff I have ever come across and keep an eye out for the fella carrying the trays of food. He should be in the circus! Very professional, fast and friendly. Definitley recommend to my friends.

I Was In A Party Of Four Who Had A Meal At Mandari
I was in a party of four who had a meal at Mandarin Palace on a sunday evening about 6pm. The restaurant was busy - lots of families, couples etc.
We were shown to our table and very prompt service from all the staff.
However our visit and meal were totally spoiled by the loud music. We asked on four occasions to have the music turned down and each time our request was acted upon. However as soon as the music was turned down one member of staff took great delight in turning it up again to a pitch where it was impossible to hold normal conversation. We would not recomend this place and certainly will never visit again.
