Malik's, Cookham

This place is the worst restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. The staff are so rude and aggressive and the food is oily and gives you a terrible tummy afterwards. I’ve not heard a good thing about this place since my experience and the reviews are dreadful. They added an extra £15.60 to my bill and didn’t give me a copy - beware! If I hadn’t already added it up I would have been sham. There was no explanation when I asked why. Not the first time I’ve heard.

Cannot believe how rude the owner is. Stopped in the car park (which was empty on a Friday evening to run across to pick up a take away from the Chinese across the road) came back to the owner shouting abuse - f***ing this and f***ing that. I tried to say, why are you shouting and swearing, sorry if this is something that annoys, you need only say and it won't happen again, but couldn't get a word in above his abuse. Also pointed out we are local and would be coming to visit his restaurant in the near future. He just got more angry and more aggressive and it looked like he had lost so much self control that he was looking for any reaction to give himself an excuse to attack me. I was shocked at his behaviour and couldn't help but think that he'll give himself a heart attack with his approach to life. His staff came out which scared my wife but she couldn't see the embarrassment on their faces as they were surely there to stop their boss going too far. He swore at and about my wife when she came out of the car to try and calm him down worried for my safety (luckily my kids were with my mother at home). We have now called the police and they are going to have words about his public disorder (their description) with him. When the police feed back to us we shall decide whether to make formal allegations which should result in an arrest, given the witnesses we have. We shan't be going to his restaurant in the future and my family that have been, will not be going again. We shall also ensure that everyone we meet in our local area knows about the owner's behaviour. I can safely say that such a lack of respect for his regular and potential customer base will and is his best punishment. We shall be avoiding his establishment like the plague - to see just how many locals he has upset with aggressive and abusive behaviour (and some of it is truly shocking beyond belief) take a look at the Cookham.com website which has literally hundreds of reviews about this restaurant.

I wasn't planning on writing a review and no I am not a member of the Malik's team but I have to say ,reading your reviews I thought we were talking about a different restaurant and feel the loyalty and need to come to their defence

I , also am a discerning diner -although not in to pretentious restaurants as some of the other reviewers might be..,

I like good food at reasonable prices served by friendly waiters on a timely basis.

At Malik's I have never had to wait for a table,the food is always good,the staff friendly and quite often we get offered complimentary brandies

I wouldn't drive all the way over from Windsor if it was not the best Indian restaurant I know

I am a total foodie who loves to dine at the finest restaurants. However, I was in for a huge disappointment at Maliks. I didn’t enjoy the food at all. What’s more, the staff was downright rude!

2nd time in two weeks! The food was good the first time but the service was slow. The 2nd Time we commented on the 1.5hr wait for the main course! and was told to leave the premises!!! Mr Malik has to be the rudest person I have ever met.

Never never will we return to any of the Malik group and will tell everyone our terrible experience!

He does not deserve the business!

I went to Maliks the weekend just gone for dinner with my son and daughter-in-law to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. I can only say I wish I had never stepped foot in that place! We were ignored at the door on a cold January night for nearly 10 minutes and then had to wait another 20 minutes for our table, despite the fact we had booked for 8pm we sat down at nearly 8:30. Everything took forever to arrive and out of 4 starters only 1 was correct. The chicken in my main course was uncooked and raw. When we asked to see the manager to complain he told us he had lots of celebrated customers and didn't need the likes of us in there complaining. We refused to pay for any of the food as it was disgusting; we were told very forcefully to pay the drinks bill and leave. My wife felt so intimated she nearly called the police as we were shown the door.

I have taken this matter up with environmental health as serving raw chicken could kill someone. Avoid this place like the plague.

I have been to this restaurant Several times and on the past two occasions, the service has been absolutely despicable. It took half an hour for our drinks to arrive and when we asked politely, we were told to wait longer. We were put on a table that didn't even have proper chairs, they forgot the rice to go with our curry and the waiter laughed and walked off when he spilt our drink without replacing it. At the end when we mentioned that we have been regular customers since Maliks has opened and that the service was a disappointment, he told us not to complain. I am disgusted in their attitudes and behaviour and was embarrassed to have bought a friend here. I have never experienced anything like it and I will never return again. I would avoid this restaurant at all costs, it's not worth spoiling your evening.

Avoid like the plague, this place is awful. The staff are rude the food is very average at best. Drinks arrived after the main courses and naan breads served with the deserts! Upon complaining we were met with a very rude and intimating manager who told us he didn't need our type in the restaurant and threw us out!

The website advertises that they open the buffet from 12pm, when we arrived yet by 12:45 most of the food wasn't out and we had to go. We got the bill and went to the bar to pay, when I suggested that they may want to change their website slightly to show the times. We were told very rudely that its normal in the restaurant business for buffets to start 30 minutes late. The staff were very rude to my girlfriend and I. We were then physically thrown off the premises and told if we come back again there will be trouble. The food was very average and the staff were rude, violent and egotistical. This all happened on a Sunday lunch time to! Having read other reviews here it must be the same manager that is rude and asks staff leave.

Appalling and disrespectful service.

Waited for an hour for the food on Monday night, enquired as to when the food would be coming, was told that they had forgotten about the order, no apology, and that they would cook it for us in 2 minutes. Something worrying when a restaurant says that they can cook and deliver your main meal in 2 minutes.

5 minutes later it arrived and was inedible, we complained, no apology, staff couldn't care less. We asked to speak to the manager who told us to leave the restaurant and not come back.

We've been going to restaurants all over the world for 25 years and we've never been treated so disrespectfully.

We've had very good food here in the past, but be warned, this is obviously a good place going downhill in 2010.
