My Wife And I Lunched Here (bluewater) Today 6th F

My wife and I lunched here (Bluewater) today 6th Feb.

WE were very impressed by the Lunch set menu at £10=25p for two courses and the wine at £6==50p per 50ml carafe.

The starter courses of herrings, prepared three ways, and the mussels in cream, cider and mustard were absolutely first class by any standards. The main course which we both had-grilled cutlet of hake on a bed of cabbage and bacon-again was superb. The chef who designed the menu and those who cooked the meals should be applauded publicly. The table service was excellent. It made our day of shopping so pleasureable.A big thank you to all concerned.

Food - Partner Ate A Very Nice Prawn Cocktail, Jus

Food - partner ate a very nice prawn cocktail, just right and an excellent haddock and chips. My choices were poor: Thai fish cakes, tasted more like sausages with a nice (but way too much) sauce, main linguine with mussels, for £8.95 there were 12 mussels, very poor value. the dish had been precooked and microwaved, the pasta was very overcooked, the sauce was ok but very hot with chilli and greasy with vegetable oil. Much worse than any pasta dish i have ever made at home.

when we paid the bill, we left £40 for a bill of £34.60 and i asked to check the amount as i was going to leave some small change if necessary. the water assumed we were tipping him £5.40 and seeing the look of horror on my partner's face, rushed off with it before i could say anything. Left a very poor impression.

the place itself is quite nice, but if you can't get all the food right why go?
