Toby Cottage, Ripley

If you stick to the set price menu the Toby Cottage is excellent value for money but the A La Carte Menu is rather expensive. The food itself is very nicely cooked to order, neatly presented and is hot and tasty. The service is personal but not in your face. You are treated as an individual rather than a mass market customer. The ambience is sedate and the whole restaurant has a relaxing ambience and has the feel of being slightly upmarket. The interior has a certain Old World Charm. On the negative side the wine prices are far too high and the mark up is excessive. this is obviously where they make their money. It would be nice if they introduced a reasonably price house white an red wine.Overall it was a very pleasurable dining experience. there is a small car park to the side but this does not have room to accommodate many vehicles.
