Our Visit
We went to the flying Fish to-day 04/05/14, where we had a very good Sunday lunch. My wife who is disabled had a problem, as they have no disabled toilet, but the staff were very helpful and extremely kind. It is a pub well worth a vist, Good drinks , Good Food and a wonderful staff.
You Must Try The Food At This Sussex Pub
THE FLYING FISH is an ancient Pub under new ownership. It has a cosy restaurant and a lovely beer garden at the back. Limited parking but the local streets are no problem. It is a real ale pub too! definitely a plus!
Open for food at lunchtimes (including Mondays) and evenings. Bar snacks include fresh shellfish ( well it is near a fishing port).
We went on Monday lunchtime and decided to eat traditional- my husband chose lamb hotpot, I had steak & kidney pud. Both arrived with a selection of fresh vegetables, home cooked and PROPERLY by a true chef! The lamb in the Hotpot had been roasted first and the flavour was to die for. The Steak was melt in the mouth, the gravy rich and the suet crust...perfect.
We just about had room for dessert...spotted dick and apple pie served with a decent creamy custard and dairy icecream - topped off with complimentary samples of Roddies Cornish Clotted Cream. Cholesterol or what? Seriously good food from an extensive menu. Not cheap but fairly priced. A good local. We might try their wednesday evening Quiz night!
Main courses, Rabbit stew, steak & kidney pudding, gorgeous fish pie, all too filling to manage a pudding. Delicious home cooking at around £10 with a nice red wine - what more could you ask for on a cold autumn day?
