We'd Planned Long In Advance For Our Wedding Break

We'd planned long in advance for our wedding breakfast at the Grand Thistle, Bristol and even had an opportunity to meet with the chef to discuss menu options.

We had a choice of 3 starters, main courses and 2 deserts.

I went for the mackerel which came as a neat oblong of crusty skinned white fleshed fish which was delicious. My wife's pigeon breast equally as good and succulent, just the right side of pink.

Mains of a stuffed, rolled chicked breast was amazing as were the accompanying vegetables, my beef was a thing of beauty. Chocolate mousse followed and was good as the Lisbon Lemon Tart that others enjoyed.

Fellow wedding guests all seemed delighted with the food and the room temporarily fell silent bar from the occasional "hmmmm", "ooooh" and "can I try some of yours...?".

All in all 16 of us were well fed, not cheeply (£32 per head) but damned good value. Many thanks Mr Opondo and crew for getting our married life off to such a great start. Will be back for the anniversary!
