A Crowd Of Us Ate At The Ship Inn Today, Food Was

A crowd of us ate at the Ship Inn today, food was good, however there was a big delay in us getting food at the same time (although we did order separately).

We were absolutely disgusted by the attitude of one of the staff members working behind the bar who kept insisting that the door be kept open as the staff were hot, even though all of the customers were cold. I thought that the customer was always right... Not the case at this pub!

Quite disappointing as we were going to go back there for our evening meal! oh well, the pub next door - The White Swan looks appealing!

We Ordered 2 Fish And Chips With As The Menu Said

We ordered 2 fish and chips with as the menu said "chefs own mussey peas".

The girl behind the bar told me there was no mussey peas.

I asked for normal peas these were not available either

They offered bread and butter instead.

After about 5 mins the waitress came to our table to tell us there was only 1 fish avalaible !!!

We had now drunk about 2 glasses of wine from our bottle if i knew this when i ordered the food I would have walked out and gone in the fish and chip shop over the road.

I settled for the Mussels which cost another £1.45 If this was my place i would have given a comp drink at least but this waitess said i could pay the extra on the way out. Bloody cheek .. at least the girl i went to give the £1.45 to said it didn;t matter..

As A Party Of Six Attending An Evening Dinner Serv

As a party of six attending an evening dinner service on August 24, 2010, at the Ship Inn in the centre of Swanage, we experienced the following:

A main course arrived cold, the mashed pot was cold and a bit lumpy and the liver was also served cold.

We requested if the dish could be heated slightly and this was actioned by one of the staff, after circa five minutes the plate was returned piping hot after being in the microwave for far to long and was inedible.

This was also commented upon and the waitress' only concern when being paid was "are you local or just on holiday"!

The Ship Inn used to be a very nice place to visit, however, with the new ownership etc. one assumes that they are only there for the quick £'s off the back of visitors on the assumption that they will not be in a position to advise others not to bother visiting.

Fortunately there are many hospitable places in Swanage and we enjoyed spending lots of £'s at there restaurant's.

Booked A Meal For 22 Dive Club Members, Aged From

Booked a meal for 22 dive club members, aged from 1 to 60 on Saturday the 29th May. All seated together if a bit cramped. All meals pre ordered and as soon as everyone seated service began. Service excellent, friendly and efficient throughout. Food was exactly what people ordered and can honestly state no complaints heard. Comments ranged from superb to very good. My starter, sweet chilli prawns with bread and olive oil dip was fantastic, mains of lamb hock melted from the bone and steaks done exactly to request.

Excellent band on later, busy but plenty of room to move and a good mix of ages between locals and tourists.

We go to Swanage every year and this will probably be our base camp in future. Well done and keep up the good work.

Had A Simple But Tasty Meal Which Was Value For Mo

Had a simple but tasty meal which was value for money. The staff are helpful, approachable and friendly. Would go again. Avoid eating later in the evening at weekends, if you want a quiet night as can get quite busy.

Well What Can I Say About The Ship Inn In Swanage?

Well what can I say about the Ship Inn in Swanage? First class service followed by first class products on the bar, and then the food is wow! Top restaurant food in a non pretentious and relaxed enviroment. This is what swanage has needed for a long, long time. My advice to any one who has'nt tried it is get down there you wont regret it.
