Overated And Very Dissapointing.
After spending Easter in Weymouth we thought it would be nice to finish our break with a meal.Vaughans ticked all the boxes from the outside, but once we were seated it was downhill!I ordered a pint of San Miguel which was sent back straight away. The 2nd one was just as bad so I left that too.I ordered the fish which was swimming in oil.We asked for the bill and I told the waitress she could take the pint away.It would of been nice had they shown any interest in the poor quality of my drink.I couldn't wait to get out of this place.

Staff Are Unfriendly, Inflexible And Quite Frankly
Staff are unfriendly, inflexible and quite frankly the menu is very expensive for what it is. Us locals know the hidden gems in Weymouth to eat and drink in and this isn't one of them.

Avoid During Events Like Christmas And Valentines.
Avoid during events like Christmas and Valentines. I went for valentines and had to pay a set price for a set menu even though neither of us wanted a starter. The choices on the menu were very disappointing and we opted for the chicken which turned out to be just a chicken brest with a little bit of pepper on a bed of mash with a little bit of something in it and a sauce. It was something I could have come up with in about 15 mins at home. Desert was the standard menu which was the meals only saving grace and we still had to pay for drinks.
I asked to have the normal menu but was told this was not an option. If I thought I could get a table elsewhere on the night then I would have walked out.
£45 for boring chicken and a desert is not on.
I am also extremely concerned that there were young children in a working kitchen. This is not safe nor hygenic.
Very dissapointed as for the first few years this resturant was excelent.

I Left Feeling Cheated And Ripped Off. Misleading
I left feeling cheated and ripped off. Misleading prices on menu, miserly vegetable portions(1 sliced potato, two brocolli florets 4 slices of courgettes)for two. When we suggested the portions were small we were offered more veg but it never materialised. The fish was swimming in butter and over seasoned with rock salt. We were of the impression that Flat fish was £9.95 pp but when I paid the bill to my surprise we were charged £15.95. I asked to see the person in charge and was told Mr Vaughan was not available. Having left and still feeling hungry we found another restaurant. When I rang the next day I was told he was still unavailable and there was a distinct lack of interest in my compliant. Needless to say this put a damper on our day in Weymouth

Fantastic Restaurant. The Atmosphere Is Just Right
Fantastic restaurant. The atmosphere is just right, the staff are welcoming and exceptionally helpfull but it's the food.... OMG it's amazing. You can taste the freshness, we were told that everything was cooked to order so nothing was too much trouble. The best food we have had in ages. Well done I hope the people living near the restaurant realise how lucky they are to have such a great place.

There Were 7 Of Us Who Went Here For My Birthday A
There were 7 of us who went here for my birthday and I left feeling quite disappointed. My starter of king prawns in a garlic and chilli sauce was bland (I could taste no garlic or chilli) and it was swimming in olive oil and the king prawns were small in comparison to other restaurants of a similar king. Other starters were also bland. Main courses were better though and the peppercorn sauce for the steak was divine. However things then got worse again with dessert being horrendous...nearly £5 for a slice of fruit loaf with a small scoop of icecream and some really bitter marmalade on top or £4 for the two tiny scoops of home made icecream which were full of shards of ice and not creamy at all. For the high cost of the meal the food was very disappointing.

The Worst Way To Spend Valentines Night. We Had No
The worst way to spend Valentines night. We had no choice but to pick from an uninspiring set menu. my wife complained and managed to get what she wanted via a young inexperienced waiter.
Seating reminiscent of joes caff,no tablecloths,no atmosphere.
I complained by e-mail to the owner, all I got was abuse and the "you spend too much time in motorway cafes". He kept on about being trained by Gary Rhodes.Perhaps a course in Customer Service would have been better.
I will never set foot in this place again.

Staff Were Rude, Food Was Nice But I Had To Go Out
staff were rude, food was nice but I had to go out and have chips afterwards as the portions were very tiny. Were forced to pay service charge even though the service was shocking and waitress very rude.
The overall atmosphere was nice but I hate paying so much money for such a small amount of pretentious food. I would like to have known that I would not be allowed to leave the restaurant without paying a minimum of 10% service charge even though I thought the service was bad.

We Ate In Vaughan's On Saturday 11th April. It Was
We ate in Vaughan's on Saturday 11th April. It was a disaster from start to finish. Service was appalling, they were clearly understaffed. The food was very poor for the prices they charge. How can they justify charging £14.50 for Thai monkfish curry with two bitesize portions of monkfish and three prawns! We left after our starters. I think the restaurant caters for tourists and I would guess that many people eat there once but will not return.
I Think That Vaughan's Restaurant In Weymouth Beat
i think that Vaughan's Restaurant in Weymouth beat some of the famous chefs places by miles. I would recommend this place to anyone who is in the area. It has a brilliant views of the harbour. In our experience the food was brilliant, and the service amazing.
